Probably because I don't understand the mechanics of it well, but I find it fascinating how the ears measurement chances the magnitude of the 3k and 8k dip.

The HD800 is a good case for the use of dummy heads with ears for measurement. I surmise the large cup design of the HD800 with the driver suspended slightly in front and angled interacts with the ear more than other types of headphones.

I'm still waiting for a stock HD800 to arrive.

So this has been modded? Interesting that the bass extension is better/flatter than the S.

It's stock. The HD800 seems less sensitive to seal compared to HD800S. Will examine more. Note that the HD800S seals fine on the EARS.

Great thing about flat couplers, even with our fairly different measurement rigs they are very similar, though I managed to get a 'proper' seal(?) with mine, little more pad bounce in the midbass as a result. There's also a little warm tilt that I am unsure of being the coupler or the microphone compensation.

I've read that it sounds more like a modded HD800 - more upper midrange energy. I don't really trust those measurements. What does it sound like subjectively?

Dekoni Pads V2 flat plate coupler measurements. BTW thanks for @MrTeaRex and @Thenewerguy009 for making this possible.

The same volume level (knob position) was used for both measurements.

Uh. Looking at the EARS fr, if you put these on stock 800 they turn into Beyerheiser HT-800?

    Am I reading that right?

Marv, could you measure piggybacked HD6X0 pads on stock HD800 pads on your rig? Would like to compare with the data on my rig.

    @Marvey
Any impressions of the Dekoni pads yet?

I've just got a pair of the hybrid in. Been using ZMF cowhide pads for a while, but my cans are ripped apart currently.

Been thinking of doing an IF pad writeup...

There are 4 different Dekoni earpads for the HD800:

    - "Elite Velour"
    - "Sheepskin"
    - "Fenestrated Sheepskin"
    - "Elite Hybrid"

Which one is being measured here?
    Btw, great work as always!
