Ya so am not gonna be all poetic and stuff so i heard about the HE1000's am a guy that relatively tries to be subjective and if people are saying X is better than Y I'll try and look at it so i decided to order them for atleast trying them and then saving up and purchasing them in a few months if they were worth it compared to my hd800's

    First HE1000 Arrives
Alright i got set it up my current setup was the ragnarok and gungnir ok sounds quite good issues bass was good sound was good blah blah blah i got around to trying them for abit but i let me friends try the HE1000'S and they all said your headphone sounds like the real deal and this one sounds colored i guess that could be due to the treble of the hd800's but atleast i got some views after a few days of testing like maybe 3-5 days i was getitng out of my chair and the wire was stuck in the chair and the HE1000 fell from about 3-4 feet off the table onto a carpeted floor bam one driver went out

    Second HE1000 arrives
return the first one and once i recieve the refund i said benefit of the doubt i might as well give it a real shot after much reluctancy i finally put it on the second day start listening to the a few songs have it cranked onto high gain on 1-2 clock and after 3-5 songs one driver went off and i ended up laughing so hard after that happened this is gain btw i have tried numerous times on my hd800's and they sing like nothing though the HE1000 require more juice compared to the hd800's atleast from the ragnarok around 1-2 clocks from my experience

    Conclusion
I cannot warrant buying the HE1000's as they are too fragile and are definitely not constructed soundly my hd800's in comparison are so well built german engineering vs china? i don't know but i can definitely see a world of a difference atleast in that regard not that i could get really get the time to burn the HE1000's with them dieing on me so fast lol

Good f'ing lord I know you're a man but please use your periods.

Also, the HiFiMAN HE-500 is probably the most industrial and indestructible ugly piece of crap I've ever seen in the headphone world. I'm not sure you CAN break HiFiMAN's older cans, and to be honest, I wish the newer ones were just as sturdy. Who cares if they're ugly?

Reading this gives me a headache. But I agree the build quality on my HD800 is far better. I hardly listen to the HD800 with the HE1000 around though..

Yes, HiFiMan's quality control is in the toilet. People keeping buying their garbage anyway, though. o_O

Quality control has been a recurring issue with them since their inception. People keep buying their products, why put thought or care into how you manufacture it?

Exactly. Better to charge huge markup to compensate for the high return rate.

Of course, I can't really talk because I own the 560.

Here is what I wonder: We know of serious quality control issues and production variation from Audeze, who build planar magnetics. We know that Hifiman has the same issues. Tyll wrote about how Mr. Speakers struggles with the challenges of keeping variation between his planars down. So planar magnetic just seems to be a difficult technology to nail down, right?

Well what about Oppo then? Their products are generally well received, are to my knowledge built in china, and - as far as i know - have never been the object of quality control or reliability concerns. Whats up with that?

Oppo is simply has a better, faster, stronger, more reliable production line, and actually throws out the duds instead of letting them into the retail market (the way QC is meant to work) perhaps? Also, smaller and thicker driver diaphragm, and more enclosed cups, could be responsible for their longevity. The variation does exist even with Oppo, as different pairs of PM-3 have A- grade to C+ grade sounds to my ears.

Audeze is just a mess. Hifiman doesn't seem much better.

OPPO has variance issues too. See Tyll's three PM-3 measurements, and just take it from me that I have a good third-party source that showed me measured variance.

Exactly this. The PM-3 I heard was sloppy in the bass, and had really lackluster highs, incredible midrange though. That doesn't seem to be entirely consistent with other views though.

I'm curious, what was the timeframe when this all happened?

My first beta unit died after I cranked it up. The production pair sounded less steely and require less in mods. My feeling is that these super-thin diaphragms might not be worth to chase after.

I wasn't even touching completely on sound; build quality and consistency is an issue as well.

@purrin once in October then around like mid November like the 20th both died within a week or 2. I don't know but there construction did not feel that solid aswell comparing it to the hd800's

If so, consider modding on the new HFM headband. Mod in mini-XLRs whilst you're at it.
