Goodness! Even after clicking to enlarge it took me a while to see that there were any speakers in that pic!

Thanks! I spot two cabinets and two units on the mantelpiece (there's a word I haven't used in a long time!).

I would probably enjoy the speakers: I'd definitely enjoy the decor. Gas fires like that: can one still get them?

Dipping my toe into two channel after being really content where my headphone setup is at now.

I went vintage and got a 80s Yamaha and Tannoys after demoing a bunch of speakers at a used store. I'm learning how much the room plays into acoustics now, haha. They sound incredible when I pull them out into the room and space them out properly, so that's what I do during dedicated listening sessions. Then I put them away as photographed and plug the bass port (manual reccomended to do this in tight spaces) and they sound pretty decent even with the wall gain. I'd say my 650 on tubes is a bit more pleasing when these are tucked away, but when they are out in the room they are incredible and sound a bit beyond my headphone setup.

I guess now, maybe I could take home some other speakers and try to get something that sounds good against the corner and wall? To make my setup easier to manage. Or is this just the double edge of speakers and I should probably just stay here and pull them out into the room when it comes time to dedicated listening? I've just learned my lesson with headphones when it comes to chasing something that's not possible in the form factory, don't want to repeat the mistake with speakers.

Unless you get a speaker designed to go against a wall or plan on doing some potentially heavy DSP, you're better off just pulling them (and most other speakers) out into the room. If you like the Klipsch sound, the Cornwalls get their name from Corner + Wall.

Yeah, having the left speaker that close to a reflective wall boundary and not being toe-ed in is likely causing a good bit of diffraction effects/smearing as well as amplitude reinforcement and likely shifting the center image towards the left.

Unless you can place both speakers in corners (especially if they're designed to be corner-loaded), sometimes it's better to at least try some non-traditional speaker placements such as placing the TV/stereo in the corner at a 45-degree angle, and placing each speaker along the walls, firing away from the wall at a 45-degree angle. Or, judging by the reflection in the TV, moving the stereo into the space in the bay window, and placing the speakers on either side of the window. You kind of have to think of it like, how do my speakers "see" the room? If they see a lot of dissimilarity from left to right, there's bound to be a difference in the overall response of the left and right channels. If there isn't balance between the channels, you're going to hear it in a multitude of different ways.

either way, speakers are hard to get right, and getting it right takes time, so just be okay with things not being perfect in the interim, and be willing to experiment.

Thanks @yotacowboy and @Pancakes ! I've moved the speakers into the bay window. Sounds a bit more natural here, but also blocks part of my beautiful view. I think I'll just shift things around / play with things a bit, great advice all! Either way, I'm enjoying it as it is and especially appreciating the price of entry of a couple hundred bucks.

Even better got a free big wall. I can pull them out into the room and they sound excellent.

Ah yes your famous assorber setup! Kidding aside good to finally see them done dude. If you don't mind me asking, how much did the build cost?

Damn yeah that is a long time indeed! All in all parts cost seems reasonable and i'm sure it sounds incredible :)
Looking forward to your build thread... getting more and more inspired to build something myself.
