That should be a really nice sounding setup. What are your sources going into this chain?

Repainted my study/listening room and added acoustic treatments. While maybe in a US size room you can get away without treatments, in a 9x9x9 cube the slapback echo with just normal furniture is still a bit much. So, added polyester filled frames to kill first reflections behind speakers:

    First reflections at listening posi:

    And ceiling:

Still has a bit of liveness but very few early reflections now. No listening impressions yet, everything needs a week or so to get back up to speed.

Wow! Looks very well done, and I love the finish on the speakers you have there. May I ask roughly how much each panel cost you?

About 100AUD = 67USD each from a company called Verbox. Would recommend to other Aussies!

Just what the doctor ordered ! I am looking at the Forte III to pair with my MC 462. @famish99 , what amp do you use and if I may, what are the dimensions of your audio room? I have a 18x12x11 room and am looking for ideas. Thanks

I like the exposed crossovers. Not being sarcastic.

Personally it’s too small a room for these. I had the forte 3s in a similar sized room and it was too much. They are bigger than they seem to be in pictures and it’s hard to place them well in my opinion.. unless it’s really a listening room and nothing else I suppose

@JayC, it is strictly a listening room. Currently, I have a pair of Sonus Fabers and Troels Gravesen speakers. They don't need the level of amplification and are easily driven by the Accuphase E650. The MC 462 is a beast but I am, as you point out, limited by room size. I tried the B&W 800 Nautilus. Loved them but found myself playing at low volumes.

I am also looking at the ATC SCM 40.

I just tried the SCM40 at a local dealer and loved it. You definitely won’t be limited to lower volume listening with those. And if memory serves you love rock/metal, which I thought the ATCs were perfect for (especially that model as it’s the largest speaker in a sealed box that ATC makes).

I use an Elekit 8600S. My room is 11x12x9 (in feet) and yeah it’s a lot of speaker for the room, something like Heresy would work better, but with a mix of setup and treatment they don’t overload the room acoustically but at the cost of visually.

I personally find Klipsch more engaging for rock music than ATC, the dynamics and speed are better on horns and with tubes it replicates the tone well.

Edit: I left the crossovers externally so that I could easily roll the components (mostly capacitors) and fine tune the sound to my liking.

Yeah I liked the klipsch for dynamic music with some compromises that I could live with. I found the ATCs too forward sounding - but that was at a show, perhaps the room had something to do with it. Walked out after 2 minutes listening to daft punk’s something about us..

Came home with these over the weekend. Ignore the blue tape, before picking these up I was going to get an UST projector. Everything I thought I knew about stereo does not apply. Vivid recommends positioning these with their convergence point in your lap. I have never had such a difficult time positioning speakers. My space is horrible, but I did find a good position. It's not the position in the photo, but I haven't gotten around to taking another photo yet. But really, WTF these things are outrageous. They sound enormous. Transients and dynamics that actually frighten me.

Both. I need to spend some more time with them, but the mid-bass has been hard to manage. It was non-existent in the wrong spot. I had to toe-in a lot and move them off the wall. I knew they would need to be off the wall, but I was surprised how drastically different a small adjustment made. I believe the side mounted drivers can be easily cancelled out.

They sound enormous. The transients are frighteningly fast and dynamic. I've heard transients and dynamics before, but none that actually scared me. The thunder crack at the beginning of Roger Waters "Comfortably Numb 2022" scared the shit out of me.

Sound staging is way different than what I am used to. Things don't really have a "position." They radiate from a location, but they fill the space in a spherical way. This is one of those things that makes you sound like an asshole when you try to describe it. Clarity and detail is off the charts. On "Jeremy Clarkson's Farm" I can actually hear the words that bumbling Gerald is saying; no joke. He cannot make a coherent sentence, but he is saying words. I've heard Vivid Oval series and Giya speakers before so I'm familiar with them. But this is my first time owning one of their models.
