It feels so nice to be back on that LineTrace MC stylus life. Stock CA alignment was nearly bog perfect, I still need to mess with the VTA on this deck as I'm a tad more tail up then I should be. Only downside is knowing I already put about 200 hours on this cart on my old JVC, when I first owned it.

Now debating if a clamp or a butcher block should be my next purchase.

Woot, woot. Thats a great table that keeps on giving! Looking forward to your needle drops. Put on some Ah Um or Abbey Road, if you can.

A clamp has probably made the single biggest difference in my table. Couldn't image ever spinning without one. Once and a while I get lazy and think, who cares, just play a record, and immediately notice the loss of detail and uneven sound.

Tired of waiting to borrow an SLR to do this. Here's a phone photo of my new (to me) Space deck + Ace Space arm. Denon DL-103 cart.

Also Devore Fidelity Super 8s photo bombing.

Yep, @shaizada wouldn't have it any other way. First turntable. Got my first record today too.

I've been mourning the defiling of The Dark Knight's master ever since I bought the digital release. Figured this was the right way to set things right AND give me my first taste of vinyl. The dynamics are amazing.

I nearly PM'd that guy, but bought a Gungnir Multibit for about two weeks instead:rolleyes:, but it's all good now. Glad a pyrate got it, it was a solid deal.

The VPI turntable rack finally came in along with the acrylic cover. These VPI racks are actually still available at SoundStageDirect.com. They are not listed on the website, but just call and ask for Seth and tell him Marv sent you. The VPI racks come with adjustable spike feet with a wingnut lock. The rack is very easy to level. You can fill the metal tubes with sand too (there is a hole at the top of each leg). The platform is separate from the rack. I joined four pieces of birch together to make a 3" thick block.

Slight offtopic but the Classic 4 pic with the metal arm reminded me of this post I read yesterday:
    http://vpiindustries.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7457

@purrin based on Harry's post it looks like they will be applying the 3D manufacturing process to the aluminum style arms as well. No concrete details but at minimum it appears the metal arms will live on for those who prefer them. :)

Yeah, my beef with the 3D epoxy arm is that it should have not cost as much as it does and that it should not have been forced upon buyers of their higher-end tables. I had to ask Seth "Umm, can I get a Classic 4 with the metal arm instead of the 3D plastic arm?" Heck, they even took the oil cup out of their new bearings, which it something I really could have used with a Decca or Denon 103R (which is why I don't have those carts by now).

At best, the 3D arm is an alternative, different but not better. But I can't blame VPI as the hype train sort of took off by itself. To Mr. Fremer's credit, he did post the WAV files for both arms. I just sold my 3D armwand on the 'gon. A few weeks ago, another sold for $1200 on Ebay.

The Lineage arm seems interesting, but I fear the hype train will make the armwand cost as much as Triplanar or Graham, which are two arms (of known quantity) I would rather get at this point in time.

Thanks for the heads up, I was wondering about that since you posted it a few weeks ago. I'll drop Seth a line and make sure to mention your referral. Is that your new Classic 4?

Ooops, I just saw your unboxing a few pages back. Sorry for the noise, great looking table!

The top block is 27" x 21" x 3" and comes separately from the rack. The one SoundStageDirect.com sells is a piece of MDF meant from HRX or TNT tables. It also quite expensive. You can order a maple one from various online places or DIY your own like what I did. I got the rack in sooner than I thought so I resorted to DIYing my own over a night.

The middle and bottom shelves are 19" x 17".

Yeah, the HRX/TNT one is $650 or so. Seth was out, so they put me through Jay, and he said the prices were high. A rock maple block is way better, I agree.

Finally got this thing all set up and ready to go. It took about an hour to 'clean' my room and get everything in its right place. Maybe I should spend a bit of money for an actual desk instead of stealing unused furniture. Now all I've got to do is adjust the counterweight and set up the anti-skate, toss on a plate and wait for the great-

I also spent ten minutes figuring out how to turn it on.
