I didn't see a thread for this yet, curious if anyone has had ears on it. The halo feedback that relies on a balanced output sounds interesting.

Four gang pot for a SE amp confuses me a little bit. Unless BAL to SE happen after the pot, I suppose that would make sense. Looks like OPAMPs for BAL to SE conversion. No idea WTF the Halo feedback involves.

    Keen to hear impressions!

Halo is the driver error correction. Jason says, "Like error correction, applied via the negative terminal of the balanced output. As in, you compare the input to the output and apply a corrective difference. Note that this isn’t feedback. This is I-O = E , where E is a difference signal, just the error component. Feedback feeds back the full O (output) signal to the input. What’s more, error correction could potentially improve the performance of the amp."

So only the balanced headphone connection has this voodoo. The SE out is void of this.

PS - Schiit does use SOIC-8 packages, but some of them are 4 discrete transistors. And some of them are just servo stuff.

I note that the balanced out has 2R output impedance, so I wonder if this 'error' is measured across a small amount in resistance in the ground return.
