SOLD: Bill-P Modded HD800 w/ CH800S - $950 shipped

:sigh: This sucks. Up for sale is my Bill-P modded HD800 with Sennheiser OEM balanced cable.

This mod is killer and it's the only one I've encountered so far that makes the HD800 a pleasurable listening experience without killing its imaging or technicalities. Knowing that I wanted an HD800 with a closer tonal balance to the HD650, Bill spent extra time modding the headphone to get it as close as possible. The result is a masterpiece.

Why am I selling it if it's so great?

Yesterday, I received my tuition bill for the semester and found that 3 of my graduate credits were billed at the PhD rate and not at MLIS rate. That's $700 more per credit hour or an extra $2100 for the course. (Normally, this wouldn't be that much of an issue but with the new job I don't get paid until the first week of February -- new hire HR pay delay).

After buying and selling the HD800 four times I finally get to where I want to be with it and something like this BS happens. Since I don't want to sell my future first born to Navient that means selling a few things that I really really don't want to get rid of. My Cavalli Liquid Carbon went out the door yesterday and this should cover the rest of the shortfall. Going to drop down to a HD650 and Geek Out V2+ rig for a while and rebuild when funding and opportunity permit.

$950 CONUS shipped for both the headphone/stock cable and the CH800S balanced cable. ($825 for just the headphone and stock cable if someone has an aftermarket cable already and doesn't need the CH800S.) Headphone comes in original box with all Sennheiser documents and whatnot. I'd consider $ + an HD650 (valued at $300) as a partial trade as well.

 

Ouch... gotta know how that hurts. I had a similar experience several years ago, when I had to sell my LCD-3 among other stuff (although in retrospect, now I'm glad I got rid of it then).

You should rebuild with an HD650 for starters. You can move on to the HD800 from there when opportunity permits, or better yet, mod your HD650 and happily stay where you are like I am.

Thank goodness. I think I typed up a purchase response at least 6 times since you put this up only to talk myself out of it. Saved me money and sanity. (PS sorry about the tuition BS)
