Really needs no introduction for most of you. If you haven't tried Springbank, pick up a 10 or 12 year for moderate cost to get an idea what it's about. It's a slightly (not super) peaty / smokey scotch with plenty of fruitiness and complexity. This one was bourbon wood aged. I'm always leery of sherry cask aged, port cask aged, etc. because more often than not, it's ends up as a freakshow kind of thing. However, the bourbon wood aged thing does work here - then again, bourbon isn't huge stretch from scotch, so maybe this is why it works.

Here is a great pairing after a tough hike. Banana and red velvet cake Oreo.

Believe it or not this brand is hard to find here in the hick town um...here in the Central Valley. So are the red velvet Oreo’s. We can get bananas however.
Tell @brencho to have one on me.

Been tempted to try this one. Would love to try it. I really like the cask strength 12 and the 15. My store also has an 18 yr but it's prohibitive.

This one is cask strength too I believe at 55.8%. I couldn't turn it down being cask strength, Springbank, and bourbon barrel.

I haven't tried the Springbank, but another well done bourbon finish is Glenlivet Nadurra. I'll see if they have the Springbank at my local (excellent) store.
