I just listened to the 2014 remix of George Harrison’s Beware of Darkness. It’s beyond horrible. I’m terrified to listen to the album.

I just checked the dynamic range database. It’s been compressed. Quite a bit. The person posting the measurements commented that the album sounded tinny.

The one to get is the 2010 hi-res remaster (not remix). It’s out of print now but it is lovely and dynamic and the best I’ve ever heard the album sound.

I owned the original vinyl when it was first released. The 2014 remaster just doesn’t sound right. Like a lot of remasters. I wish they would just stop trying to screw around with things that don’t need to be fixed. They got the damn thing right the first time. I’d love to hear the 2012 remaster. Hopefully I can get it someday. It’s a wonderful album that really shows George Harrison‘s talent.

He tried to use a more standard mix and they lose something, it changes the feel to the songs. Not a complaint about the sound quality. Just the mix.

I call the restaurant to let them know DoorDash isn’t working. The person tells me that they have no way of contacting DD, but she has a phone number I could call and talk to someone! I’m I missing something here?

@Gaspasser they don’t. I guess I couldn’t understand that they had the number to DD, but I had to call, because they didn’t have a way to contact them. Was actually funny to me, that they did have a way to contact them. Then she put me on hold to see if they could figure it out.

It will be interesting to see what he did. He was a perfectionist. Even had a patent on a ram-jet engine for a space plane. I know he replaced the caps and a bad transistor. It will be nice to have it as a reminder of a great 63 year friendship.
