EC Studio Jr. 300B

That's @donmiller who just got banned from here for flipping SBAF Friends price gear back to SBAF for a profit.

 

I’m still unclear if newer Studio Jr / B is the way to go for Eddie Current. Some friends told me that his older amps like the Balancing Act are better tuned.

 

A reason you might want to avoid the Balancing Act no matter how good it sounds is that I believe there's limited availability of the preamp tube.

 

Good luck finding a 445 or a 2a3 mkiv or even a studio t/m (still not what you want probably if you’re after that vtg ec sound but still very rare, maybe 9 monoliths made)…

 

A BA w 45s would be sick, I didn't know EC made some to accept that tube.

 

The BA I had used a 6SL7 on the input.

 

Thank you everyone for the inputs. Is the Studio Jr from the banned member is also the result of flipping? It doesn't feel right to give business if this is the case.

 

I think this is the guy. He is banned from here and sell the amp on head-fi.
The studio jr and aficionado has same chassis, you may check some review, I wonder their sound signature is similar too.

 

Don't think he was accused of flipping the Studio Jr. The issue was his other sale threads : the 3F and the wavelight
