Just a quick shot of the watch, really good looking watch despite the micro scratches. It's not referred to as 'Platinum', but rather, it's referred to as 'White Gold'. And no, I've not gotten around to adjusting time and date....the strap needs to be changed.

Edit - Scratch the about the strap, it's a brand new leather (crocodile?) strap that replaced the original black one. Just the strap alone (buckle and such taken from original) cost about $500.

If Casio had released the base version with Tough Solar from the start I would have been sold. Not joking. Tough Solar, Eco-Drive or Solar (Seiko & its sub-brands) watches are seriously good value.

I am still resisting the urge to get another G-Shock. G-Shocks are too much fun and almost indestructible.

Casio previewed a new trio of full metal G-Shocks last week and I’l really liking them. I’m just not sure I can pay the premium over the regular ones.

I don’t love the bands in the picture (in person may be a different story) but those seem much more versatile in terms of suitability for occasions you’d wear them than regular g-shocks.

edit: preorder sold out already though?

BTW, this is why the tide function comes in handy. These two pics were taken on the same day in the same spot near where I currently live,

Speaking of orange watches I recently saw a Shinola square mechanical watch on my feed.

Oh wow. I didn't know Casio has watch with tide function! Do you know if the Gulfman has a solar version? That definitely comes in handy around bays and oceans.

This is one of my daily watches i've been wearing for the last few years. The classic model.

I would not know about a solar version but that might be a future purchase for me if it exists

calibration with the local tide is a bit tricky but I think I figured something out that works well. I’ll post if there’s any interest

@Slade01 - Looks like they made a limited edition one at some point

Tide is an analog dial. Solar powered with atomic clock sync.

That looks very nice! It almost looks too nice for being in/around the water!

I did find one that is more like your version - tough solar.
Amazon.com: CASIO G-SHOCK GULFMAN Tough Solar Radio Controlled MULTIBAND6 GW-9110-1JF (Japan Import) : Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry

I was thinking about this yesterday as I was looking for a spot to fish / surf fishing. Checking the tide on my phone on a bright sunny day is a pain, much more convenient on the watch! Thanks for sharing! You may have caused my wallet to go deeper into the minus side. Lol.

Oh that looks cool. It seems to even indicate if it's a big tide or small tide.

And whether it's doing a U-turn to the left or the right.

Edit: No, wait, be fair! They are both to the right but in different directions, I guess they indicate change ebb to flow and flow to ebb

I've gone down the Casio tide blackhole and found some other watches. There's a series called G-lide that seems to be directed at surfers.

The indicator looks more fine grained and it links to your smartphone to sync tide and the time. Much easier than what I do with my current watch.

Not sure if I'd try to get one or not, but the Glashutte Panomatic Inverse caught my eye a few months ago. Not my picture:

That's a beautiful watch too! There's a guy in another forum who had described the Glashutte Panoreserve as the baby brother of the Lange, and that that was his holy grail watch.

A low end watch after a high end purchase, bought this Seiko Chronograph because I so love the color of the dial....yes, I'm one skinny (old) dude.

I’m in the middle of a dilemma: If I can get any new Rolex for MSRP, which one should I buy? My purpose is to use occasionally and possibly sell in 5yrs to recoup the money/upgrade.

Assume I have already spent enough with AD and can get whatever I want for MSRP (including the new lefty GMT) if I wait.
