It was only $1300ish anyway. Barely counts. Somebody tell the monkey to subtract 1 from 1k to 1.5 k, and add one to the 500-1k category. Lol.

Hey now. Someone had to die for me to have that much money to spend on gear. RIP Dad.

I'd be curious what the delta between people's most expensive piece of gear and second most expensive piece of gear is. Mine's pretty stupid:
    • Tyr: $3,200
    • Magnepan LRS : $750
Almost everything else, I've bought on sale or used coming in under that $750 number.

So I just did the poll (and kinda didn’t 100% follow the instructions). I spent $18k on an entire system in 1990 ($7000 for Preamp and Amp, $4000 for speakers, $1500 for a MC cartridge, and $2000 on a turntable, $1k arm, and cables)…

So, in answered the poll in “inflation adjusted” dollars for 30 years later…

should I go back and change my vote to literally be “since 2018”?, in which case it would be my buying of the Modi+ - a far different “vote” ;)

The most expensive by MSRP that I own are stax sr009's, but I got them for like $3.5k when the yen was particularly low. The most I actually spent was about $4k for the ECBA with the tubes currently in it.

The Eddie Current Electra was probably my most expensive disappointment at around $3.6k with final tube config, iirc, and I just hated it. The build on mine was fucked up for the cost too -- polish was done wrong and the lettering was all inconsistently sized, not even symmetrical left-to-right.
