NOT: Theory on the new Schiit

Now that Modi Multibit isn't the new thing anymore, the new new Schiit will apparently be revealed August 27th. Though probably like half of you have already seen it and are biting your tongues.

(I admit I have no idea what that could be, nor even what category of products it might be trying to outmode.)

@ Marvey can you give us a hint?

 

With all the different hints over the past year or so, it's gotten difficult to keep track of it all. Is Jason teasing that project that would be in addition to our setups, not replacing a DAC or amp? Think it was called the Manhattan Project or The Gadget?

 

Yeah, I'm sure he's going to reveal the Manhattan Project at the show in a month. It's not going to replace either DAC or amp (as it's never been done before), but I recall him saying that it'll be second to transducer (which we all agree makes the biggest difference) in regards to sound difference.

 

No, the Schiitshow is not for the Manhattan Project. Nor is it for any of 19 different things we're working on right now (to be precise). It is, as stated, for a desktop product. Notice that it is being pimped to a headphone crowd. This also means it won't be our 2-channel products, which I have said we're shooting for RMAF.

Beyond that, it is all a mystery. (Yes, to us as well.)

 

Oh just show us a taste of Manhattan and the 2-channel stuff. We wants it... precious... yes!

 

If schiit would make a turntable, that would be nice.

Square shaped, 2 arms and brushless direct drive. Theres too many overpriced turntables these days, even VPI is so expensive.

 

Purely speculation okay so don't shoot me:

First: Schiit is not messing with their DACs (not speculation)

Second: It will make a current category look dated so it is a revamp of something they are already making.

Third: Like above it is being pimped to the headphone crowd

So also thier desktop end game is called the Ragnarok which is the end of the cosmos. The Ragnarok has the slogan over it saying "the end of the world is only the beginning" on the Schiit website.
Norse mythology is cyclical rather than linear, meaning that the creation of the cosmos occurs after the cosmos is destroyed during Ragnarok. "death of the gods"


After Ragnarok the nine worlds are destroyed which included ASGARD and VALHALLA. Also Thor dies in Ragnarok when him and the serpent slay eachother wich renders the Mjilnor of no use.


So I had some funds becoming available for a good clean desktop amp but I really wanted it to be a solid state amp. However, whatever Schiit is designing, as they always do, is going to or supposed to be a game changer. I am wondering if this new DESKTOP HEADPHONE AMP will be a combination of ice and fire tube and solid state and is called Niflheim, Ymir, or something that has to do with the beginning after the "end of the cosmos"

hmmm.... What could it be.... Though I am probably way off in the names and story etc I like my Theory.

How do you jump from "a current category" to something they are already making? The current category could easily be something Schiit doesn't already make. Could easily be a very modern looking and techno advanced DAP. Think of the slogan: "now you can take your shiit with you"™

There really isn't much of anything new to do with DAPs... They already pack sooo much into those little things.

They said it would be DESKTOP.

So they want to go beyond their dacs and amps. Only other thing is vinyl but that would make the previous statement make no sense.

and nahhh screw a new DAP...

If that is one of the 19 products Schiit goes for fine but I doubt it would be something the majority of folks would want to go to a Schiit show for.

 

Maybe it's that completely new balanced topology Jason said he'd cooked up quite a while ago, put into a headphone amp. Maybe cheaper than Mjolnir? Guess we'll see

The only thing being discussed so far that'd be specific to a headphone crowd is an amp, no? Everything else- streamers, TT, etc, are all equally relevant for speaker fellas. Also, I was just looking at their page and the only in-production amp there that has no "v2" attached to it now is the Ragnarok.

Unless, of course, 'whole new category' for a 'desktop product' includes... Headphones!

 

But what about Beta Ray Bill?
