Well, this is kinda an extreme deal. EAR 912 for $7500, ($5500 off new). This is an endgame phono and preamp and a killer price. Basically you could buy this and never want for a better phono or preamp.

For those that don't know, Pete Millett designed the highly regarded Apex Teton as well as many many other projects. The details for this amp are open like his others, but it might be hard to build unless you can source the same transformers.

Would love to buy some myself, but I live in Canada.

 

I'm considering grabbing the hd650's as a stock back-up pair, but with a "Moderate to major signs of use" sticker, I'm scared the pads might be too heavily worn down.

Apparently a store employee is taking stock-check requests on the r/headphones.. @barelyincollege asked right before me and the Hd600/hd650's are in pretty good condition.

He's almost asking new prices on that... I guess for fellow Canucks it bypasses taxes and import fees, but still kinda hurts

 

My guess is he'd also justify the price due to the black finish. Unless Schiit gets another whoopsies from their supplier, that's probably not gonna happen again since Schiit follows the Henry Ford motiff of "You can get it in any colour, as long as it's silver (/black)".

edit: Also, we don't get charged import fees on Schiit stuff since it falls under NAFTA

 

But probably still brokerage fees etc. Depends on the carrier.

Aaaaand NAFTA might not be around in the near future??

 

If you order through USPS, they hand off to Canada Post at the border so you can do that to avoid brokerage fees as well!

And yeah, I guess we'll see what happens to NAFTA...
