Lots of talk about HD650, but what about us who enjoy bass?

I didn't like the 7kHz peak and lower midrange suckout on the TH900. But yeah, come to think of it, along with what you just said. An EQ'd TH900 is really nice though with that biocellulose driver.

This headphone sounds right up my alley! Comparisons with the ZMF Omni?

Gawd I can't wait. Tell them to tell me what it is before Black Friday takes all my money so I can buy the thing already.

    Sounds interesting!
I take it that its not a Planar?
Edition X sounds like it might potentially could be a contender for HE-6?

Ideal headphone would be HD800 on steroids with bass and mid bass punch!

Lol, no mention of Audeze in a basshead thread. Classic Changstar. Love you guys.

Also: V-MODAs have insanely horrible build quality.

What about bass speed? Does it feel nice and fast or one note?

Very interesting. Although I usually don't buy bass-head cans. Z7 was too much for me. Ideal bass for me was lcd-2 pre-fazor. Also you could throw original he400 into the mix with regard to outstanding bass.

Tried every LCD model. None of them I would consider to have powerful bass- yet alone have the quantity to be considered for bass-heads.

I agree. :D The LCD line has very nice extension and texture on the bass. Maybe a touch slow and slightly thick sounding. But I actually enjoyed the lcd2 that I owned very much. Just too damn heavy to use for me as a every day driver. There are too many better option particularly with regard to comfort out there that Audeze needs to seriously consider a redesign IMHO. Similar to what Hifiman did with the 400i and 560.

Isn't that what they did with the EL-8 series? Huh, a new "titanium" model...

IMO...the EL series, both open and closed, are an epic failure. They should be recalled for the connectors alone. Even if they had good connectors, can any say xlr-mini, I wouldn't pay more than $100 for that sound signature.

I have no problem with Audeze, but none of them are basshead cans.

For me, anyway, basshead headphones actually physically shake.

I was just referring to their new design for that line, the cups + headband which I've read are more comfortable than the LCDs.

The bassy headphone that I like is the Shure SRH1540, incredibly comfortable though a bit rolled-off up top (maybe too much for most folks).

    1. OP REQUIREMENT: Not HE-6 money. EL-8 series from Audeze fit's that requirement, but the EL-8 is shit. I'm not going to recommend shit to friends.
    2. I don't consider Audeze basshead cans, or specifically more than HD650 at slam/punch. Not the first thing that comes to mind. Laid-off, rolled, or dark is what immediately comes to mind. Basshead: Darth Beyer, V-Moda M-100, TH900, GS1000 (but last are HE-6 money and have treble peaks).

Not that I'm recommending the EL-8 (have only read mostly negative reviews/impressions, not yet heard for myself), but just read about what comes with the new titanium closed EL-8: "A complete 24-bit high-resolution integrated AMP/DSP/DAC with Lightning connector."

I see! Guess I don't have a lot of experience there, then; I've had XB1000 for quite a while (now they are just lost somewhere in my office) and hated both the bass and, well, other parts of the spectrum. Was under the impression that most basshead cans "compromise", would be happy if that's not the case.
