Schiit Audio Now Officially on Notice

I think a good compromise that won't hurt schiit's bottom line would be to make the black units have a longer wait time when someone pre-orders it. So schiit can get the money in advance and with extra time to build the black units, so none of it will end up sitting in the warehouse.

 

I quite like the silver color, it matches my mac computer and soundcard nicely. But, it cannot be denied, those black Schiits look very cool.

 

Still, sounds like more work on their part. Now let's put this topic to rest, so Jason can go back to working on my future $300 speaker amp. Oh wait, you guys want it in black, so it'll probably be $500 now.

I'm going to suggest that those who want to paint, coat, slather, wax, or otherwise spew some kind of viscous goo onto their amps that they should at least pick something that won't interfere too greatly with thermal conductivity.

Proper anodizing or powder coat is probably the way to go. I haven't seen any black schiit in person but I would suspect a nicely powdercoated chassis would wear the finish a lot better than paint. It's pretty affordable at most any local place but the problem is the factory screen printing.

i'm thinking that Jason has stated, more than once, that offering multiple finishes on a regular basis is not a profitable option.

i would really, really like Schitt to prosper making high value gear at multiple price points.

cuz, you know, i am listening to some Schitt right now.

Lol my Gungnir Multibit is hidden/bolted under my desk anyway. It saves space. And it's a friggin useless metal box, why would I want to see it on my table. Atleast my amps knob I use once in a while.

 

So is gold-plating in or out?

 

After reading Jason's @schiit 's post, I can understand why the option is not readily available and something they are not looking to do anytime soon - if ever. As Jason pointed it, it wouldn't be practical financial-wise, and in my opinion, I would prefer Schiit to continue to make outstanding products for their price then perhaps have to charge more for the extra work and staff. Sure I think the black is amazing, but if I had a choice, I would prefer any color they choose if Schiit continues to do what they have done, and that is make incredible products for an incredible value.

AS consumers, of course we would like more choices, but as I mentioned above, I would prefer an outstanding sounding product for a great value, then have to pay more simply for looks - and IMO while I think black is very nice, the silver color seems more refined. As Jason pointed out, it would be a lot of extra work, and cost more money with producing chassis with, in this case, a black chassis. I'll take a great sounding product for a great price over looks any day.

Thank you Jason @schiit for clearing things up. Sometimes we as consumers don't really think about the business aspect of producing products and keeping the prices down. But really, Schiit products are made extremely well, built like tanks, and sound amazing with amazing value. Maybe some of you think I am kissing @schiit 's ass - however every Schiit product I have either owned or had a loaner for has always been outstanding for their value, and I would much rather it be that way, than their prices going up because of extra financial costs. That is just my personal opinion.

We are going about this all wrong. Schiit have proven themselves to be unmovable on topics like this. Instead, we should be petitioning Craig to produce a replacement chassis for Gungnir.
