Though, it's a damn shame that EA took BioWare's beloved Mass Effect franchise... and ruined it beyond any (facial) recognition, by squeezing the literal life (and heart) out of it, then simply flushed it down the (interstellar warm-hole) shitter, by quietly abandoning it (floating in the deep voids of space)... for, at least, another millennia. [RIP, Shepard!] :'(
Yeah. It ended for me just before the final battle. Indoctrinated Shepard theory was amazing, EA had to ruin everything, naturally. I didn't even touch Andromeda
Likewise, to a tee, for me!
Minus that Star-Child/Catalyst nonsense; aka: pick an R/G/B color/poison, to end the game. ME1/2/3 & the "Theory" was awesome, deep & nuanced.
At least we've had 2,5 good games. :D
I've seen this Matrix theory, really cool stuff :). It really would be great if Shepard was the catalyst. If the crucible required someone's mind to direct all that power. And depending on your reputation, your actions, war readiness, is either you actually do it, you fail, you live, you die, and all the rest, including the ending cutscenes.
Oh and that god child was just harbinger trying to indoctrinate shepard, maybe to use him as the catalyst for something else, whatever it is he wanted. That's actually ok by me.
Since it's been like 6 years, (my goodness, time flies!) so my memory of the ME3 & all of the Theory's intricacies is not too good.
But I basically agree with you, since I'm remembering as that's what it pretty much was: a 99% successful Shepard's indoctrination...
And the 1% was given to us to make the "colorful" R/G/B "choice", by totally sticking it to "The Man" / Harbinger; while deceitfully thinking that we actually possess any control... of anything, till the very end.
I had a feeling a lot of those clues/coincidences were purposely planted-in; but BioWare just didn't have time to fully flesh it all out nor have it come to fruition, prolly due to time/budget constraints.
^Yup I agree.
It was a wonderful yet bittersweet game trilogy—rising to greatness, then suddenly getting shoved off the cliff—but with a typical EA: greedy, run-of-the-mill, premature birth & sudden moronic franchise assassination-style & disastrous clusterfuck, of an Ending, that ME4 was.
Talking about it, any more, just makes me really sad for the state & direction of where our whole gaming industry is heading. :\
I kinda went, and still am, on a bit of a gaming-hiatus; between the stuff we all go through, in life: w/ losing a loved one (family member) & other life's difficulties; but I'm finally trying to get back to my hobbies / gaming roots, once again.
But yeah, I eventually had to just watch a TwitchTV buddy of mine... Live-Stream both of those Games.
