    Never noticed that screw, but apparently it's for attaching an old-school microphone. If you google "Porta Pro Speakeasy" it will bring up a picture

    Yep, the Porta Pro is an old design, dating back to '84, I think? Easier to imagine call center workers in the '80s with their Porta Pro and little pompom mic. They sound better than they have any right to, though!
