Tube amp hype? What?

I'm a fan of SS amps mostly, tight & extended lows and all that. Tube amps are made to color the sound - I've not been sure that is what I need from an hp amp. I love 'em for guitar, though.

Nah, tube amps are made to amplify sound, coloration is just an unwanted occurrence when the circuit, components, bias etc. is not where it should be. On my 2A3 amp I only get tight & extended lows plus tone, soundstage and coherence. High end is high end, doesn't matter if it's tubes or SS.

Tube amp = colouration is a myth, though there is definitely a "classic tube" sound that some might just have a preference for.

Tube distortion though isn't. But, since we are talking about pleasure listening it's all ok in my book.

When you find that one perfect tube the addiction starts. My Vali 2 is staying...

I keep the HD800s on the third line on the headband. Definitely towards the low end of their size range. Just, I need a big cup size.
