    To be clear, I don't think it's defective or anything (works as intended by Schiit). I just don't like the way it makes things stage.

    Note that headphones differ in their initial phase setting. Some inverted some not. If you perceive meaningful change in either way, then there's a chance you would like to use that button for some situations.

    You know you have the right phase when the soundstage doesn't sound like ass. Some amps or other gear or even recordings will invert phase.

    It can also depend on the recording as well, some are recorded backwards and the button will help those.

    Some amps are inverting and using the phase switch seems to go better with that. My sense is whichever phase sounds "duller" is the "wrong" phase. In other words, whichever phase sounds more focused is the right one.
