Going through the same process now. Only real concern is dependence on streaming partners. I’m sick of Tidal and MQA, so that leaves Qobuz only. Wish they could integrate with Apple Music or Spotify HiFi.
I wanted to go lifetime until I tried the Android app an was completely shocked how bad it was, frequent crashes and non responsiveness. They have to do better if they want my support.
I went through same debate recently, even after paying for a year first. Would be no brainer at the old price. Landed on annual, roon said that is what they prefer and best supports them, and I figured something better could always come along.
I ended up on the annual plan as well. Even if I figure a five-year break even with the inevitable yearly price increases, I think I'm better off. Five years is a damn eternity in technology anymore.
did the lifetime about 3 yrs ago... think it was still the old pricing. So glad I went that way. No problems with android app here - use it on a tablet and 3 phones...
I was an Audirvana user until moving to M1 and issues with plugins crashed my Mac. The subscription fee for Audirvana pushed me to look at alternatives.
