same happened to someone I know. 2 days of minor symptoms followed by 2 days of very bad sore throat & was testing negative throughout until day 5. positive = you've got COVID! negative = meaningless!
If you mean a rapid test, like edd said, a negative result means nothing - they’re only like 30-60% accurate on negatives. Positives however are rarely wrong.
I thought my symptoms were stress and the negative test played into that wrong belief. Mistake. Engaged in unsafe stupid behavior the rest of the day hanging out with friends and going to a bar. Thankfully nobody has caught anything so far. Most are fresh off covid infections themselves.
I got a negative result on a home RAT test. I didn't pay it too much attention as the thing was past its use-by date anyway, and the symptoms were just too typical.
Sure enough, an RT-PCR test, next day, showed positive. And was much less uncomfortable!
Almost everyone gets it back in 30 days but there's potentially long term damage. It's maddening for me because my sense of smell was excellent, possibly my best sense. I once detected a friend's car problem through smell alone while he couldn't smell anything. Hope it comes back quickly, there's some slight indication it is.
