@ext1 do you have a general breakdown of S/N SQ diffs for the 800? Like, I assume this means the 9K's are superior to the 49K's. I've got a 19K (19228). Sorry if this is a can of worms you can't answer easily.

@internethandle I wrote a short blurb about it on my site, because people keep asking. It is a can of worms for sure. Basically- it largely falls to preference. I'm more for the air and treble, so I go low- others are for the body and midbass, so they go for the high. That being said, the reason why I had a 49k here was because I really like the ones close to 50k. (Contrary to popular opinion, they are not 800Ses)

@ext1 thanks for the reply. Did a deeper dive on your site as a result. Your "All HD800/S should be used without the dust cover!!" point under Personal Beliefs/Design Philosophy got me to remove them on mine just now. It's better! Thanks! :)

Personally, I think it's bullsh*t that we even have to deal with all these silent revisions. No idea what you're getting until you receive it.

Yeah. It seems insane to have to account for both serial numbers AND pair to pair variations. Good on @ext1 for taking on modding cans with that level of inconstancy, would drive me nuts.
