I don't have the Eikon on hand for a direct comparison but from memory I would say Eikon handles this particular aspect of the lower mids better as there is a bit less quantity. Upper bass on Eikon does obscure other details at times though so it's all about trade offs. Eikon offers better texture and tactility in the bass and has a more exciting presentation. Weight is an issue for me with the EIkon, where I got a hot spot after about an hour of use. If you want a lighter weight and a little better timbre presentation get Australis.

As @cskippy pointed out. One of the channel seems be boosted in the lower mids on the Australis when in reality it should be closer to the Borealis overall. I took the time to simulate it at home yesterday and I will have it resolved before it goes out to the next person. I promise that there will only be a slight delay.

The issue seems to be caused by something on these demo parts and will absolutely not be present in the final run models. I will also make an effort to get a pair to @cskippy so he can hear it with this fix. The overall aim was to get the Borealis and Australis tonality and FR as close as possible.

Hey all, just a quick update. @Eudis Fernandes received the units to check over and has made a small adjustment to the baffle on the open back a couple weeks ago. He should be sending those back out to @cskippy in the next couple days. Apologies for the delays on this tour but life happened and Eudis actually welcomed a healthy new member to his family yesterday, so a hearty congratulations to him!

I appreciate all the efforts from @gandhisfist and @Eudis Fernandes to make this tour happen and improve continuously. I am eager to hear those two headphones soon.

But more importantly, congratulation @Eudis Fernandes !

Indeed. It's one thing to make a headphone, it's another to make a human.
Although making a human is usually easier.
    and probably more fun.
    But Congratulations @Eudis Fernandes !

I'm honestly excited to hear more about these myself too, the Australis specifically. Anyone on my side of the globe have a pair? Need to organise a meet soonish.

Congrats Eudis! Audio gear is cool and all but family comes first.

Any updates on these headphones? I’m excited about Borealis, especially after hearing one on my Af.

Yes! We made a slight update to give the Borealis more bass extension.

@cskippy Thank you for your impressions. How would you compare the Borealis to the LCD2C with Audeze Vegans or Elite Velour? I love the LCD2C for bass slam, I think it has pretty good resolution and I like the warm sound signature but the staging sucks (helped a little by the Elite Velours but still kinda sucks). Do you think the Borealis will be an improvement in these areas?

Hmmm that's a tough question. I only had a few minutes with LCD2C Vegan and was mostly curious about frequency response changes not sound stage. If I had to take a stab I would say LCD2C Vegan might have a little wider but flatter sound stage compared to Borealis. Borealis has an average but very coherent sound stage, a little bigger than HD650 and for me, not an issue in listening.

Thank you. Would you say it is an upgrade over the LCD2C in other areas? I'm trying to avoid sidegrades and moving into the $1500+ club.

I may not like the ZMF tuning but I have to give to Zack, his work is flawless
    Edit: appologies, wrong thread.

I know updates have been scarce on this. Unfortunately @Eudis Fernandes has been occupied with some personal matters and unable to get demo units back out yet. Hopefully that clears up soon and he gets some time back to dedicate here.

After spending some time living with that baffle mod he mentioned above. I think we may actually elect not to include it in the final build. While it certainly does increase bass extension a bit, I think the overall change to the character of the headphone makes it a step back rather than a step forward overall.

Good news is that we received our parts and as soon as time permits, will be starting assembly and finishing up the website to get things ready for sale. While I don't have a solid date for launch yet, I expect we'll be rolling and in business in something like a month's time.

@gandhisfist Thanks for posting the progress! I am damn looking forward to getting my hands on these..

Does this mean there has been no change from the unit @cskippy evaluated? Please correct me if I'm missing!
