We might have a budget to buy a headphone or two, sell them off, and repeat. Any suggestions?

No, not touching the LCD4. I'm sort of interested in the Beyer T1v2, but I have strong doubts about it given Beyer's track record with their Tesla line.

I vote for dharma over the T1. We already know the T1

Plus if T1 goes on tour no one will want it. Most of us already have a certain facetweeter

How about the Dharma, and instead of the T1 v2, the DT1770?

I have no idea what the Abyss Diana would cost but I am very curious about how it measures. I'd like to second the Odin as well. The Ether-C out of curiosity?

I would be really interested in the Final Sonorous VI (formerly called Final Audio Pandora Hope VI).

    Reasons:
1.) Kind of affordable (retails for <700$ here).
2.) Gets masses of subjective praise everywhere people have actually listened to it. People compare if favourably to flagships.
3.) Interesting design: Hybrid with dynamic bass/mids driver and a balanced armature tweeter.
4.) Closed circumaural: We need good ones!
6.) There arent any measurements ANYWHERE. This thing is a total dark horse.
    5.) Its a non-obvious, kinda exotic manufacturer.

Hell if you would purchase and measure one of those I'd gladly throw in another 10$ or so :)
I just cant bring myself to buy one blind, knowing the ways of the HF hypetrains.

Audio-Technica ATH-R70x seems interesting. At 470 ohms they are the only high impedance headphones that I know of by Audio-Technica that you can use with OTL amps.

Also would like to hear more about the German Maestro GMP series. Another German brand priced in the $300 range that I feel like could be very good for the money.

The problem with the Odin is that its neither released nor affordable. I too am interested in that thing, but I'd be more interested in something I can purchase.

Therefore: Final Sonorous VI (Closed Hybrid, 700$) or Enigmacoustic Dharma (Open Hybrid, 1200$).

    I already bought the DT1770.
Will be sending mine to @ultrabike in a couple of weeks.

P.S. It doesn't sound bad at all to me... ;)

Would love to see the performance of Ether-C.

    Dharma, but not until production
EL8 Open and Closed (Also for teh lulz? I want to get some numbers on the POS I heard in the closed model)
Noontec Zoro II HD (Good budget, on-ear, sealed...get more word out about this)
    Alpha Design Labs H128
    Audio Technica ATH MSR7
Fischer Audio FA-011 LE (Apparently the LE model has some tweaks, I think some form of internal passive EQ filter thingy)

I wouldn't mind the T1v2, even though I've already tried it. Maybe it'll have some modding potential, or possibly stop being piercingly bright with some burn-in and a better amp (than the mcintosh).

Dharma gets my vote for being an interesting design.
