@Walderstorn was kind enough to offer his IMR up for a limited tour, along with an IMR Zenith loaner from the manufacturer IMR Acoustics. Both are dynamic driver iems.

Shipping and insurance requirements to follow.

Tour membership is now closed. Members to post in thread when package arrives and when you ship out. Impressions thread to be posted soon.

Unbelievable but UPS managed to "misplace" one of my 3 packages and unfortuantely seems to be the Zenith. This made a delay and i will have to re-send it, this time through DHL.

I will resend and it will go to @shotgunshane first, and not james, since it will be easier to manage between me and james later, since we are both EU based. I will try to send it tomorrow.

Is that ok with you @shotgunshane ?

Please place me at the end of the list then, since I'll be out of town for the entire month of May.

@shotgunshane will receive it on the 25th. I could only schedule a pickup on the 23rd unfortunately. Small city problems.

Both IMR’s were received today. Everything is in working order.

I have to admit the R1 Zenith is a little confusing/disconcerting with its vent mechanism that seems to nearly twist forever. The OG R1 is much more straight forward and controlled with its limited range of motion.

Instant thoughts are that the Zenith is a clear step or two below the OG. Zenith is a little, make that a lot... strange. The OG sounds much better in any configuration.

The empty blue filter is crying, screaming for a @james444 alcohol swab mod.

Not a part of this tour but yes, empty nozzles = DIY damping.

I tried open cell foam, many types of non-woven fabric (teabag, stiff felt, loose felt, super sheer surgical mask liner, 3 types of perforated thicker TP-like material from Joannes), t-shirt fabric, TP, woven sheet fabric, a few others...

Each clearly dulls a different spectral profile of the FR. Teabag is good for the top octave and a half. Surgical mask liner is good for the top octave alone (really good for the Fourtes). Fabrics reach further down into the mids. The open cell foam surprisingly did more to the mids than the treble. From what I can tell from @james444 's measurements of the FD01, the alcohol swabs should sit somewhere between teabag and loose felt in terms of damping spectrum.

Fun to mess with but I liked partial stiff felt / partial teabag, and complete surgical mask liner coverage in layers of 1/2/3 respectively. The mask liner killed the top octave a little bit but also dramatically improved the sensation of ringing up top. Now they're quite smooth. I'll start a modding thread soon with pictures.

If the cable and build quality were better and they came without nozzle options at all with the damping configuration I applied permanently, I'd feel comfortable paying around $600 for these, which is saying a lot for me.

If there's any interest I can even get a second pair of blue nozzles from IMR, mod them, and send them to whoever has the loaner if it'd be good for them to tour to see what they're capable of. @Walderstorn could keep them after the tour ends.

@E_Schaaf I would definitely be down with that, if @Walderstorn doesn’t mind me holding on to the tour kit until your nozzles would arrive.

Yes, this is a long tour and i will happily wait a little bit more. Also that's pretty generous of you @E_Schaaf and i will gladly take that offer.

If i was in the US i would just send a pair of nozzles since i have tons but sending from here it will take weeks.

@E_Schaaf ‘s filters have arrived. His blues are really good. I’m torn between the blues with alcohol swab mod and these. The alcohol swab modded are livelier, more forward. These from E_Schaaf sound more damped, with more solid bass.

I’ll give these a few days of listening and then send everything off to Kunlun.

... the stock cable is wired out of phase. Couldn't even invert the polarity of one channel and had to use another 2-pin cable because the barrel of the connector has this notch that only allows insertion of the 2-pin in one direction only, presumably as a guide but in this case completely backfired because of basic QC issues.
