Hey all, today my AMP stopped working, it wont switch from Red to Green, anyone have an idea of why that's happening?

I opened an RMA with Monoprice, luckily me this thing has an insane warranty.

The only easy thing to check is the tubes. If they are somehow loose or have a bad connection then the amp won’t come out of the start up. Otherwise RMA is your best option.

Agreed , try a different tube. Assuming you did not try running single ended and balanced together which could take out one channel. The green - red is typically DC at the output , if the tube is not a dud then something else has happened to the circuit to overwhelm the servo and the dc protection circuit is doing its job.

Thank you, I tried switching the tubes, I have a few here, I tried all of them in multiple different ways too, no dice.

Well.. I opened a ticket with Monoprice, hopefully they can assist. I heard they are good about that kind of stuff.

Looking for a good V shaped tube. Any suggestions would appreciated!

Tubes don't do much on LP IMO I prefer JJ gold pins over genelex gold lions and EH stock tubes. Slightly more V shaped to my ears compared to the other 2.

I need to try to the JJs at some point. The Gold Lions work well for me and feel very balanced.

I bought this amp not too long after release, and it's still going strong. It currently holds down the fort in my classroom and gets a ton of questions from my students. It's not often you see something like this on a teacher's desk, haha.

Has anyone compiled a list of all tube types possible to use with this amp and the most often preferred tubes?

I tried searching in this thread but couldn’t find much.

if someone can provide a list I’ll add it to the first post for future reference.

    thank you!

There's a fairly long LP thread on "the other headphone site" with occasional in-depth discussion of tube rolling, best NOS tubes, etc.

There's also a dedicated tube rolling thread. I tried to read through there but there's so much noise and general unqualified praise that I gave up.

I just gave up after a page. I'd love to put a more informed list of the best LP tubes in the first post of this thread if anyone has the knowledge and could put one together. I think it would help a lot of people. Including me :)

You gave up too soon IMO.

If you keep going, you'll identify one or more members of that site who have the best information, say the most informative/educational things, and generally seem most on top of tube-rolling for this amp.

Yes, a lot of noise, but I've found very good info from user Wes S. He is extremely knowledgeable with a lot of first hand experience rolling countless tubes in the LP. Start here and scroll down a bit for some pics of some of his favorites:

    https://www.head-fi.org/threads/liquid-platinum-tube-rollers.898852/page-58#post-15764682

When I had an LP, I rolled maybe 5-6 recommended pairs and settled on the Brimar based on his recommendation.

Exactly right. Wes S is very knowledgeable, also one of the nicer people I ever ran into on these boards. I've picked up some tips from him about rolling tubes in other amps.

I am a long time lurker here on SBAF, and I have been around the LP tube rolling thread over on the other side.

    https://www.head-fi.org/threads/liquid-platinum-tube-rollers.898852/post-15496288

This list is also a nice starting point, as it is not limited to just the 6DJ8/6922, but recommendations for other variants if you are using an adapter on the liquid platinum.

Aside from Wes S, posts from jb77 and TK16 over there are also knowledgeable. Now back to lurking. Thanks.

I probably will more - I respect this place to much to shoot my mouth off at the risk of saying something asinine or worse, unhelpful. I definitely appreciate how on point the threads are here. But I feel like I probably have a decent handle from lurking so long and learning the proper lingo/terminology and such.
