I wasn't impressed, but it's very subtle. One would need some serious listening time to really decide. Also, really only useful for acoustic instruments, I think. I spoke with mike about it, and he's sold!

For sure. I can imagine an audio show being a difficult place to evaluate a product like the Gadget. Hard to get into skingasm mode with noisy surroundings and a lot of stuff going on around you.

Random thoughts (I didn't go to demo gear, I went to catch up with a couple of folks in person):

Major props to @schiit, @baldr and Grover, the Schiitcago rep, for showing me a good time. I hung out with them and the Schiit crew the whole time. They registered me under Schiit since I was too stupid to pre-register for my own badge. The hot wings were decent at the hotel and it was kind of them to foot the bill.

I guess I wasn't prepared for ORFAS being out in force. People were generally nice, though. The traditional audiophile areas felt pretty stagnant. The energy wasn't great outside of the personal audio area and it looked mostly like attendees were folks who had been to RMAF many times before (not a good sign when you're not seeing new faces). Jude didn't say hi even though I was on my best behavior.

The new remote for Freya is nice. I'm buying a spare for my Saga now. Aluminum feels better in hand.

The Schiit table was crazy packed the whole time I was there. It seemed like even the ORFAS crowd was excited about their products.

The speaker room was nice, despite the Salks not being the last word in resolution. It wasn't perfect but they did great in a non ideal room. The Salk streamer thing kept lopping the ends off tracks before jumping to the next. Queyras Bach cello suites came on at one point and the Gungnir Multibit > Freya > dual vidar > Salk system did really well. I told a few people Saga was the better preamp in the speaker room and no one believed me even when Jason agreed, too.

I saw @CEE TEE but he was crazy busy and had some clandestine meetings to attend.

It's also not done, was buggy and the system had some other tweaks but I couldn't tell exactly what they were. In fact, they removed the gadget from the speaker room because Dave didn't think it was ready yet (he was working in it during the show!!!).

Anyone in the area for RMAF want the following deals, let me know:

    Jotunheim with phono stage: $275
    DonModded HP1000: $1300
    Philharmonic BMR monitors: $650
LH Labs Pulse Infinity XFi w/LPS4: $800
    Laconic Night blues mini: $300
Original CTH, mrrogers cracked out: $200 (keeping the original CTH I built years ago)

I probably have more random stuff like a pico power, other portable amps, DAPs, etc.

The pulse infinity is an awesome DS DAC. Best SABRE DAC I've ever heard. I bought it and the Vi DAC and of course I need to keep the big ass Darth Vader looking one and sell the compact desk friendly version.

I would take the BMRs but they wouldn't fit in my carry on bag. :(

Took a minute to hear the effect. Easier to hear for me on horns, like someone lightly pressing on the vinyl platter to slow down in one case.

Damn. Been forever since I've seen the Chang shirt. I still remember making my intern design it.

@schiit trying to woo @Hands to the dark side?

Next time the family visits Colorado I'll have to sneak over to meet some of you folks. Visits there tend to just be a massive queue of visiting family and friends though. It's kind of exhausting.

I thought it may have also been another slang term for a hummer...

And Tyll's transformation into Santa Clause draws ever nearer...

Hey, for those of us in foreign lands who don't know most of the faces, any chance of an annotated version of that picture please?

I'm the one taking the picture :). I'll do my best when I get home and have a computer.

So I walking into the woo audio room, and jack greets me, remembers me from last year, looks at my SBAF shirt, and say "Eddie Current?" And I reply yes, and he says, oh, those are great amps.
