I said I'm new to all this and just started diving in.
I am trying to learn, which is why I've been browsing r/headphones and these forums since finding unbiased information on Head-Fi is like finding a needle in a haystack.

Thanks for helpful response, it's why I'm here.
I was aware of the design changes Schiit made, I wouldn't have mentioned that I'm considering an M2U stack had they done nothing to resolve the issue.
It's just unfortunate that it made it into the final product, and I believe went unnoticed until users brought attention to it though I may be mistaken.

I shouldn't have used the term "free speech".
What I mean is to have the freedom to discuss things that break unwritten rules on Head-Fi because sponsors and money.
I'm not looking to blindly attack or defend anything or anyone here, I apologize if I come across too abrasive and cynical.
I'm not a delusional know-it-all trying to spread misinformation, I am a newbie to all of this trying to understand it all.
I'm here to ask questions and learn, not to preach.

I was simply curious how Schiit maintained such a good rep with such critical people after the incident.
I feel I've got the answer now.

Yes. Marvey and Deep Funk have done the job.

@Hunched - then welcome. It's customary for folks to introduce themselves in New Members thread. If you browse through there, you can get a sense of the diversity of the place and what people would like to know about you and your experiences with equipment.

@MuppetFace thanks for my first dislike! The wa234 was returned with screws that could not be taken out without a woo audio special screw driver..

Reddit/r/headphones is far from unbiased. It's about as unreliable as Head-fi, just for entirely different reasons. Most of the good users from reddit are on the headphones Discord now. Lots of people from here too.

SBAF definitely has it's fair share of bias as well, all places do. However, this is a better place for discussion than reddit or head-fi by a very wide margin due to you being about to actually dislike stuff (excluding the HD650 of course). Find people who's opinions/impressions/thoughts coincide with your experiences and you'll get much more from that than reading 100 different impressions on the same thing. Most of all, try stuff for yourself if you can.

A lot of it came down to Schiit entirely removing the issue from their lineup. Also the issue was overblown by the argument and schiit slinging between Jason and Nwavguy. Since then they've made some of the better/best products with good support and quality control. You can't argue with results.

Remarkable how much the Wings have changed in recent years. I'm still used to seeing Lidstrom on the ice for the entire game and having Holmstrom parked in front of the net.

Why do some folk have to turn drama queen before taking their ball and going home. Trust me, you weren't the first person to leave, and you certainly won't be the last. Most people figure out this place isn't for them, leave quietly, and move on with their lives without having their hair on fire moment in public view.

Don't worry. According to logs he's still around. Surprised it took him a year to realize this place is a meritocracy.

P.S. I don't what the f**k is wrong with you young people these days. Deference is actually a good thing. I defer to my bosses. I defer to the CEO of the company that I work for. I practiced deference to anybody who taught me anything, my teachers, my parents, and colleagues who knew more shit than I.

... and you're none of those to me. You approach the hobby very differently from me, and that's fine. Not my style, but that's just a difference in priorities.

What you're looking at there is a "knowledge management" problem. All the good stuff is out there, but buried in crap. There are a lot of gems on this site, too- but in a long and crazy thread, it can be hard to find them.

It's a problem that I'm facing at work too, and I wish I knew the answer, short of a giant evil AI that will eventually enslave us all (yaaay can we have our own IBM Watson instance, Marvey?). Even search has its limits, and is hard... The only good way to do it right now is to have people summarise and construct useful precis and pointers to the most valuable info. However, that's a lot of work.. and even if it did get done, keeping it fresh and relevant, especially when people move on, is damn near impossible.

I wish I knew the answer!

By junky I was referring to certain posts where audio low hanging fruit get fretted over like it's anathema here to spend more than $8 on some minor system tweak. I'm not gonna bother with the homework to drag up links to threads, but things like resonance control, cables, power conditioning, etc., get short shrift on this forum in a way that's too much like hydrogen-audio neckbeards barfing up James Randi hyperbole. This place is better than that. Boring skepticism is boring. ABX all the things is boring.

By junky, I also mean there's times when threads that begin informatively devolve into 9gag tropes. keep that inane shit in the non-audio subforums.

I like this place. I'm happy to keep my mouth shut if helps.

    Cheers.

I like merry tocracies. The merrier the better. Doesn't mean that I call anybody sir. Which, in turn, doesn't mean that I don't have respect for people who are better at something than I am.

(It's India: I call policeman "sir." I call government officers "sir." Hell, it's just a word, and if they get off on it, and I get what I want, that's fine.)

Heh, I used to call everybody "sir" when I was serving my conscription because it was easier to say than "sergeant" or "sergeant major". I bet some of them insisted on being addressed as sergeant just so they could squeeze one more syllable out of us.

The dislike was for linking to head-case BS regarding Cavalli. There's a long history with Gilmore's attempt to discredit Cavalli, and back on Changstar we had to deal with a lot of that nonsense.

    1. I don't think anyone had a problem with you; you always seemed quite respectful, so I don't know what you are fussing about.
    2. Read up on @MuppetFace's bar analogy.
    3. You made a proclamation you were outta here. Why are you still around? Don't let the door hit you on your way out.

Right, well I was just linking someone to it.a few years ago..currawong still shouldn't censor that...
I don't put much weight on what KG and the 'mafia' think.

Edit: I was more surprised you guys didn't care to know what we found in the wa234!!

Have a like then. I just assumed you drank the kool aid cuz you said "some POS Cavalli amp." For what it's worth I have Cavalli and Gilmore designs, and I like both in their own ways.

Also it's an "unwritten rule" on head-fi that you can't link to head-case. They're considered a rival forum like SBAF.
