From what I read, the second production of HE-90 in 2006-2007 was only 4500 euros and didn't include the HEV 90. So that's probably what he's selling. Not a great deal by any means

 

He90 was something I always put on a pedestal on a lofty mountaintop. Those types of things almost always disappoint in reality, like getting a date with a dream girl only to find out she's a real bitch.

The he90 exceeded my expectations. It was simply, rapturous. If I had a lick of common sense (which clearly I don't), I would have taken all the money I've spent in this hobby and just bought the he90 and a good stat amp.

On a more serious note the $16k price was for the package with the HEV90 energizer, and the headphones alone could be gotten for as low as $5k (from the 2005-2006 Meier Audio deal) IIRC.

And yeah, those pads definitely aren't mint -- you're looking at a few hundred just to replace them within a few months.

With the shitty pleather quality and overpriced replacement parts I'd hard-pass them for anything over $8k and get an SR-Omega instead.

Fishing. He included a high-side new price in the ad, and looking at his history he'd asked $200 for the red pads alone (after earlier buying replacements for $89) and $120 for the coiled cord, so it's not as if he doesn't know what they're worth...

 

Good thinking. Somebody who is selling HD800 for 900CAD and Clear pad for 200CAD would not likely to list Clear for 800CAD. Worth a shot I supposed.
