Sbaf is such Sbaf :D Modification has started right from the very beginning.
So what's your opinion @purr1n - it's better with two or one dampening pieces.
P.s. It's not foam. It's natural wool Italian felt.

that's some high praise! super curious about these now... I love me some good planars.

only thing of concern for me, despite being mentioned as 'quite good' a number of times is comfort, as I seem to be way sensitive to weight and clamp - do you have any estimate on how much much these will weigh for final product? I am also wondering if these adjust well enough even for those of us with a bit larger/wider heads?

measurements look pretty good and you really seem to be working hard on your product, super cool to see!

Now Verum weights about 550 gr and will weight 470-490 gr. It's rather heavy but it's not weight that make headphones uncomfortable. It's weight distribution and clamp. Weight distribution is good thanks to this part:

Clamp force is adjustable. Verum will fit anyone from males with big head to females with small heads. In release i'll make adjustable range even wider just in case.

Have you experimented with felt on the other side of the magnets? You put it on the "outside", so why not try putting it on the side facing the membrane, and seeing what that does?

I've never heard anyone try that, but it makes sense to me :p

It has to be thin though, so it doesn't touxh the membrane :p

Zreviews, in the little part where he did a sneak peek, said they were SO COMFORTABLE. And he's a complete whore for all things comfort!

Dekoni LCD pads are too large at least. Don't fit.

Verum doesn't seem to respond to fabric pads like Audezes do anyway.

Believe it or not, but I've spent much more time to make it comfortable then to make it sing. Final variant of sound was ready almost a year ago. And half a year to make it as lightweight as I can and to distribute the weight evenly. You can't even imagine how many variants of steel headband I've made before I've shown to world final variant.

I defintely prefer just one piece. Like @Hands, I do not like bright, but I have more tolerance for it. The frequency response is near perfect now - more than good enough. Life is too short for me to try 132 variations. If I can rely on what I know for a targeted treatment, I will just stick to that. Went through number of records last night, some recorded well, so not, so a little bright. Everything I threw at it sound fine, or as they should.

I can attest that the fit and ergonomics are very good. I have a big head and use the HD800 just a few clicks from being fully extended. The Verum does not feel heavy to me at all. The LCD2C actually feels slightly heavier. The adjustment mechanisms once you set them automagically contour to your head. It's obvious a lot of thought was put into this. If I'd have to rank comfort, fit, and ergonomics of several orthos, I'd put them in this order from best to worse:

    MrSpeakers Ether
    Verum
    HFM HE400S / Audeze LCD2C
    HFM HE1000
    HFM Sundara
    Monoprice M1050

I took the measurements on a new set of MiniDSP EARS which I did not have time to produce compensation curves for it. However here are the results using the difference data on my flat coupler measurements. Take it for what it is.

    GREEN = one felt piece
YELLOW = stock - two pieces of felt

Now I just want to see something ridiculous like a sandwiched isobaric planar design, simply for poops and giggles. I have no idea if you'd wind up with a whole lot of non-cancelling non-linear fuzzballs, but it'd be interesting to see nonetheless. Actually, if this is a two sided symmetric magnet assembly and the stacked one has polarity that lines up, that might actually boost the strength of the inner magnets. (pay no attention to the armchair wizard; he brings nothing except silly ideas)

    Now I'm listening!
How does it scale with upstream?

Also a country with lots of brilliant engineers and high level of manufacturing culture.
I expected these to be at least decent sounding for above reasons,
but what Marvey is hinting means I might loosen some hatred towards planars and maybe get a set for myself.

For those of you who heard both, how does the Verum compare with Code-X? The Code-X is hands down my favorite planar by far, and I feel it is very neutral and balanced sounding if not very slightly bright and sibilant. The Code-X also scales very highly with TOTL gears. I can see the general consensus is that the Verum is also very resolving and slightly bright. Does it share the scalability and technicality of the Code-X when driven properly?

Exactly, because Ukraine was a part of USSR it's still has remains of engineers, plants and equipment.
For example, hardening of metal springs in this headphones was made on plant that was producing 30 years ago turbines for nuclear reactor :D
So in fact Ukraine is the only country where such project is possible. It's a unique combination of cheapness and remains of hi-level industrial manufacturing. And if you know where to locate those remains - you can produce almost anything. At least in small scale.

Wouldn't mind an EU loaner to get a listen first. These sound like the planar headphones I always wanted but never found. Under 500, ortho bass, no audeze FR fuckup, no hifiman QC, no Abyss comfort and fit issues.

I wish I could give a listen to everybody who is interested in Verum. But please understand that's a DIY project and Verum 1 for now exists in only 8 samples.
So to explain to people what was produced and how good (or bad?) the product is - I've sent samples to people who're well known in audio community and showed interest in this project.
That's why I never said any word about the sound. A manufacturer can never really be trusted to offer an unbiased opinion about how their product sounds.
Next week, at 21 of August I plan to start a Kickstarter campaign where I'll ask community to support Verum project. If crowdfunding will be successful first finished headphones will see the world in a 4-5 month after I receive money.
Why so long? To produce those headphones in bulk I need injection mould and stamps. They're produced ~ 2 month.

I would like to order one since it'll be my birthday and I could do whatever I want if my better half allows but...LH labs has thought me a very expensive lesson on crowdfunding. I'll still try to get a listen if possible before buying. I want these to be the HD650 of the planar world.

Finally finished promotion video. Hope it doesn't look too amateurish.

and future kickstarter page that will be launched at August 21.

I have 2 questions to community:

    1. What additional perks in addition to headphones should I propose?
    2. Just to think about the possible variants - if crowd-funding will be successful and Verum will gather more attention then initial goals what extended goals should be set? I'd like to hear your propositions. Maybe at least some of them I can bring into a life?

You might want to work the Verum and/or SBAF logo in there somewhere.

Nah, don't want to do this . Also don't want to do something like "give me 1$ and I'll tell you thanks".

p.s. But I still like the idea ;)

    I'd say a bag/case color-matched to the headphones
