"Fear Inoculum" turns you into the honey badger? Damn, you must not have fear. I learnt to swim today, a 7empest requires some survival skills...

Aside from 7empest this album is a dud. I mean, I get how playing in neato 13/8 and 5/4 and 7/4 time signatures has become Tool's schtick, but seriously, if that's the only novelty they capture why not just go back and listen to Trout Mask Replica? Lateralus, FTW. It's not "great music" if the only thing you're surprised by is which 1/8th note are they gonna not palm mute this time through the riff.

Napoleon was dynamite. France revolted, he won many battles and became emperor while Europe was on the brink of collapse. Even when banished people still loved him. He fucked up and the French still wanted him to go to Waterloo.

Also Tool fans talk about Tool, we cannot help it. Sorry for that.

Faith vs reason might be a false dichotomy. Hofstadter's take on Godel's theorem, to me, is an argument that any system necessarily involves some degree of faith to operate. And the resulting systems from this faith standpoint yield internal reasoning which reflects and extends from this assumptive starting place in a perpetual feedback loop.

Hofstadter develops this idea of a 'strange loop' in a more phenomenological context in 'I Am A Strange Loop' - definitely worth a read if you're into contemporary philosophy.

Me thinks the inductor should short DC from the tweeter, so most of it will be burned in R1. I'm surprised too however. Those are very low order filters. The 18WE woofer seems to be running 2.5 way with the 21WE. Which in turn are running something like 2.5 with the 32WE? Maybe call that 2.75? Who knows. He seemed hell bend to avoid caps.

Ran some numbers. Inductor and tweeter are likely 0.2ohm and 3ohm at DC. Padded with an 8ohm resistor and a DC offset of 1V, it would give 24mV across the tweeter. Probably fine.

LOL! You have a good point. I expect about -28.7 dB DC drop across the tweeter relative to DC input power. A capacitor might help there indeed. It's not great, but perhaps not catastrophic. Ironic that many times folks avoid capacitors because of distortion.

Sounds almost too good to be true because it solves nearly everything, but I really hope they can make it work. Carbon stuff aside even, a reliable source of fuel that doesn't come from volatile parts of the world so if someone farts the wrong way the price doesn't go up 50 cents a gallon sounds amazing.

With brute force almost everything is possible. Key here is the 'dumb' power nuclear plants make in the night time and renewables can make a lot more than the grid can use in fortunate conditions.
