My normal instinct is to mod what I don't like, however I have always modded cheap stuff up (better movements, sapphire, etc). Even though I have sunk over $1000 into the hobby when it comes to tools, supplies, and have ended up with several cool watches, the idea of buying a single watch near that amount and doing anything but wearing it is a little nerve wracking.

If you like his aesthetic, you may want to follow along. Allegedly the next watch he is working on will be an integrated bracelet, similar to a Royal Oak. But first he has to fulfill the pre-orders for the Hellcat (including a model with a green dial @fraggler).

Very beautiful watch but no date display on a $1500 watch would be a deal breaker for me.

Dates are overrated :) Why put a hole into a perfectly good dial?

Short term memory loss? At my age I rely on my watch to remind me what date it is. Easier than getting out the phone.

I had to google "watches without crowns" to figure out what watch this is beyond "gorgeous watch." Is that ostrich leather for the bracelet?

Not to many crownless watches out there. But my beloved Accutron spaceview is one. And the only other watch I have other than my gold g shock, and 2 cheap casinos.

That's gorgeous.. I love the Ressence watches, both from a technical and design stand point. I'd love to own one sometime!

Yeah, they don't make it easy with the textless dial. I know a Chinese guy who doesn't speak much English, and he wanted one for years but couldn't figure out who made them until we got in touch...I don't like text on dials but sometimes there's a good reason to put the company name on there.

It is ostrich from the factory. Frankly I would prefer calf - it's weird how they put a pretty thick strap on an otherwise featherlight watch.

The new Alpinist model looks much better in the creme dial. The prospect logo doesn’t jump out as much either. Just an altogether better looking dial

@Zhanming057 you have great taste. Those are really cool watches

That oil filled Ressence is sick.

Yesterday a new battery for the old thing that companies used to do to mark long service (remember that?)

    Late 1970s low-end-of-the-range Omega Seamaster:

This was given to my father by his employer, then one of NZ's largest and oldest companies:

The recipient, now aged 97, is still doing fine and remains based in his original HQ. The company, not so much. :D

Very nice. The University of South Florida, where my father was a professor for 35 years, gave him the crappiest of garbage watches from a catalog when he retired (like $25 watch). Oh well, he wouldn't know what to do with a nice watch.

Neither did mine, which is one of the reasons I now have it: he always said it was too thick, heavy and gaudy so never wore it.

So as an early birthday present, I got myself a Casio G-shock. Haven't had one since high school and it was great to have one again:
HOWEVER! I can't leave well enough alone and the classic black plastic isn't quite as cool now that I am all grown up, so....time for some modding!

And just a few minutes later:

Now it is heavy and blingy. Not quite totally me, but definitely fun, still cheap, and I'm very happy with the results.
