Bought a Mjolnir 2 from someone (will not reveal name yet) and received a f'ing plastic mp3 player. Hope that Paypal buyer protection will save my ass.
As long as you didn't send the funds as a gift, Paypal should get things straightened out. But if you sent the payment as a gift you will most likely be SOL sadly. Hopefully you can get things straightened out.
If the seller was responding within 24 hours before you sent the money, I would give the seller 24 hours to respond to your message saying you did not receive the correct product. If you get no reply within that period I would open a paypal case.
Sounds like he's definitely trying to scam you by turning the tables in the claims process and escalating first. My previous experience has been that Paypal falls on the side of the buyer in most cases. Take pictures and document everything and send it to them. Tell them you didn't escalate yet because you were giving him a chance to respond in case it was an honest mistake to send you the wrong thing.
BTW, I'm speaking from my own experience in which I ordered an expensive camera lens and it arrived in damaged condition that definitely did not happen during the shipping. Dude shut down communications and refused any reparations and Paypal gave me full refund after I sent the lens back to him.
Thank you all so much. I have never gotten scammed so all you provided great help. Unbelievable support :)
Just finished a big email to PayPal with everything I have. (Original listing, All PM's, Tracking info from both countries official posts, Received letter with everything seen.) Also the whole shibang story of course.
I hope this is enough since he has nothing on me.
His Head-Fi profile is tresaistevadels.
There's another bit of documentation to add as far as what gravity said - that he was actively soliciting people to buy various high-end audio components from him. Maybe PM gravity and give them his full name and email info. They probably won't follow up with him but it looks a lot more legit to share all the info.
Yeah I linked the official Mjolnir 2 site and all the pics what he sent of "his" unit. They will see from the pictures of the letter that I received that it's only a 0.12kg letter and obviously the Mjolnir 2 is much heavier.
I sold a bifrost on HF last month and it was a painful process. Had about ten people try to scam me out of it before I sold it. Never had those problems years ago.
