That review that you linked was incredible. Truly a masterpiece and work of art.

I still visit HF frequently for the Music forum. The large member count there means a fair amount of diversity in terms of music that is discussed in various threads. I totally avoid threads where the manufacturer or MOT post in it (e.g., Noble). Waaaay too many shills in those threads; zero objectivity.

If there is a forum where human beings are talking about headphones in English, I will visit (or lurk). Frequently.

If there is a forum run by human beings...

    :sail:

OK, to visit or not visit is not a big deal for me, and I'm a headphone listener rather than a real headphone hobbyist anyway. I'll still go there and see the occasional thread. I don't care if my membership continues or not, and my subscribed-thread list is most unlikely to reverse its trend of diminishing towards just two or three active threads. Stuff heard lately is a really big turn off: people who are actually just marketing guys out to consider very seriously the negative effects of their behaviour --- lest their market just moves somewhere else. The internet is a fickle place.

That was properly silly. First time I saw that review and I almost fell off my chair.

    @MrTurtle , thank you.

I've been hearing from various people getting banned for no particular reason by a certain mod on the other site.

There seems to be a HF formula, I hope you will understand even if you don't agree.

Maybe, with the bans, they should say, One day you will realise that this was for your own good.

I'm sure they have their myriad of reasons which they cannot go into.

Indeed. The difference is that we actually tried or wanted to get banned.

I just visit headfi for pics and classifieds... Sometimes I go to the product threads for what I have to feel good about what I own. ;)

Classifieds for sure, they see a lot of traffic so it's a great place to buy and sell. But other than that I mainly peruse the halls of SBAF, more so than /r/headphones too.

Curious about the new HD800S I ended up with a video on HF. I learned nothing. Total hype fest. Tyll should be the first to get a review sample (if the manufacturer has got any balls).

I still regularly visit headfi. I mainly in the classical thread where I almost always learn something new or interesting. I enjoy the conversations with the regular members whether I get involved or not. They don't take themselves too seriously and find it a really pleasant thread to hang around in.

I would also add that I have found the sound science section informative.
Otherwise I keep my eyes on threads of gear that I own/owned.

Three main headphone related sites I visit are Headfi, Innerfidelity and now SBAF

I am new here and liking it. However I do visit Headfi daily and like it. Learned long ago to take half what you read there and flush it.

For me, spending less time on Head-fi is a matter of comfort and intimacy. Head-fi is a useful source of information that is run by people I happen to like and respect. Sadly, it is now frequented by so many members that posting there can feel like riding the subway during rush hour -- full of potential conflicts and microaggressions due to the randomness of one's seatmates and the crushing lack of space. Posting in a smaller forum (which head-fi once was) is more like sitting in a roomy bar with friends.

When it comes to other people's characters, I can only speak from personal experience. Jude has always been exceptionally kind and supportive to me and to people I know. I've never met the Jude that people talk about here; the Jude I've met and spoken with was openly warm and is not the reason I post on forums like this.

You might be friends with the bartender in a painfully crowded bar, but that doesn't make the bar itself any less crowded.
