I can understand how you might feel.

What's disappointing is that you'd like to "infinitely loop" your disapproval of how I feel, which is the equivalent of plugging your ears and singing to yourself.

If the people who run Head-fi are the ones who are so intolerant, then why are you the one who's plugging your ears?

Everyone's experience with another person is going to be different. Why should mine be exactly the same as yours?
And if it isn't the same, should I really go along with what you or others have said and not be honest?

A forum is not a place where everyone has to be in lockstep. It's a place where different experiences can be exchanged. I haven't said a word that negated your or anyone else's experience of Head-fi.

 

Chill dude, if he was really intolerant of your opinion, he would have reported you rather than just disagreed. One thing you have to come to terms with the people on this forum is that at times they intentionally appear to be socially inept.

Actually, I edited the word intolerance (where it applied to jexby) out of my response before seeing yours and everyone else's. It was too dramatic.

Reporting someone for describing their personal experience would have been ridiculous. Who does that?

I can even tell you exactly how I'd respond to my post if it were written by someone else and my experience with Head-fi were as bad as that of some people here. I'd either (1) ignore it and let it fade into the scrollwork of a 23-page thread or (2) use the poster's words to make the opposite point:

"The Jude that I've met might be different from the Jude you've met, but that doesn't mean he's nonexistent." Then I'd offer a quick example or two that differentiated that bad Jude from their good Jude. Point made; no ad populum barking required.

I understand the animosity toward Head-fi and this isn't the first time I've seen it. A long time ago, a banned member named pinkfloyd created his own audio forum, of which I became a member. He disliked Head-fi intensely and said so but respected the fact that I was fond of the place. We're still friends, though I haven't talked to him in a long time. His forum was fun. You ran into a lot of DIY amp and cable confectors from places like Cornwall.

It would be fun if they really tried to sound oblivious to social cues.

 

I never intended to convince anyone of anything about Head-fi or Jude (not that I could).

I mentioned it mostly to explain why I didn't spend time posting on Head-fi any more. The level of popularity is what makes the place problematic for me, not any issues with the people who run the site. I try to be fair when I criticize people's forums.

Some people who describe contrasting experiences are trying to make a point. They're offering anecdotal evidence in an effort to convince people who hold different opinions about a given thing.

Others state contrasting experiences because they explain personal decisions, are valid and/or could be helpful to people with similar experiences or points of view.

I'm probably in the first camp occasionally, though I try not to be. This time, I'm firmly in the second.

Sorry to hear that mention of this site gets censored over there.

 

I've always been more of a passive participant on HF other than the classifieds, so I have no experience with the overlords. However, I am definitely on this forum way more now. Judging from people's various bad experiences with Jude on here, I believe that a change of name for the HF ruler is necessary. Jude shall now be called He Who Must Not Be Named by me or You Know Who for short.

Still, you're reading unstated motives into my words. My talking about reasons for leaving Head-fi has nothing to do with "apologizing" for Jude, nor do I accept the idea that unfriendliness = righteousness. I joined this forum for the reason I gave in my first post: It looked like a friendly and intimate place.

I'd have written "with all due respect" if it weren't for the fact that people who say those words rarely mean them and I do.

 

I know CS was censored at HF but now they're officially censoring SBAF too? Wonder if they're gonna censor the SuperBAF absorber mod and the SuperDupont resonator mod being mentioned there as well, now that they've been made known outside this community thanks to Tyll's article. If so, well it's their loss.

I could not tolerate that empire any more. It became more about sheepish consumerism after Huddler-Fi.

I just clicked on my bookmark for HF, and that is what I get. In the circumstances, I think it would be a hard man that doesn't sympathise with Jude and his crew.

Lets hope they manage to get out of toilet really soon.
