Fingers crossed the ashfall doesn't harm any of the animals or ruin other things. Still spreading last I heard. Was sick in bed, missed the news until a while ago.
@insidious meme Eh, kinda hard to ignore when everyone in my immediate vicinity is talking about it. Other peeps out buying supplies, but we've got a decent stock of stuff at home so we're reasonably secure. Heading outside is misery though.
@insidious meme Thanks man. Wishing your relatives all the best too, now that I know they're hereabouts. Evac was pretty efficient and no reported problems so far, hope that eases your mind a bit.
Crap, stay safe man! Hopefully your house is relatively well sealed and you don’t get ash coming through the ventilation as well. Has this happened before/recently at all?
@rlow live in the ring of fire so it's not extremely uncommon, volcanoes do go off every now and again.
Home is well sealed, but the problem is with two of the doggos. They literally try to kill the other pets so best we're doing for now is covering up their spots outdoors and running electric fans to keep as much ash away as possible
Thanks @Lyander I'm presuming they've built the roadways out since I was last there in 2007. I've visited that volcano a couple of times.Felt weird watching smoke rise from the water within the crater.
@insidious meme Been to Taal a few times, yeah the whole scene is surreal. The whole island-in-a-volcano-on-an-island thing might be completely fuxed now though, but more important is that the people are all safe, yeah
@Lyander hope you and your loved ones are safe from harm! I know how stressful it can be having to evacuate, as I recently learned from the recent fire in my area. Best of luck and keep us posted
Precipitation on my end so things thankfully cleared up a lot, but other areas are worse off. Some donation drives in progress, I hope those end up in the right hands at least.
@Lyander Hah, masks and filters have been on my mind lately. HK in case of tear gas, Sydney for the bushfires. I packed an entire air purifier into luggage and brought it to Sydney last month. Hope things recover quickly out your way- the Philippines seems to catch a lot of heavy duty natural disasters.
About par for course for the area I guess? And shit, honestly tear gas seems almost worse considering it's people being actively horrific to one another versus the planet just popping a zit. The brush fires are terrifying too.
