Quite the opposite I think. Macrodynamics don't seem particularly impressive but micro-stuff is somehow greatly evident, but there's still a bit of a "... mmmokay" sense to listening.
Might be the fact that I have to use variable out of a Fulla 2 gimping performance though. Gain is too high when getting past channel imbalance.
"Dry" I assume relates to timbre, lack of cues might mean terrible imaging/stage. Sadly I haven't found much correlation between stage and plankton unless you're talking about spatial plankton, which only exists on speakers (and to a very small extent SR1a)
Big ol headstage with good air between sonic images, but images themselves seem a bit loose around the edges, lacking definition. Yup, dry timbre, decays are fine, not super constrained like the last SS amp I had at home (G109A)
Never heard spatial plankton and I'm glad it's not something I miss LOL!
At this point I feel compelled to say that because I sold off a lot of gear and only held on to my headphones I feel uncomfortable saying anything definitively. Sunrise, Micro iDSD, and Bifrost MB gone, just have a Fulla 2 for a source and have not heard the latter with any of the other amps I have as a baseline so I'm sus of what I've written down so far lol.
Dunno why but I can similarly picture someone with their wine-tasting notes after selling off their cellar collection and consuming the "budget" brands.
@rott oh this isn't that bad haha, I'm nitpicking. It's more like I'm getting back into critical listening after a long time just passively going with it and resetting baselines.
Also it's funny you say that cuz I know you had one of these until recently :))
