Damn that sucks dude. My Clears are a couple of years old and the headband does feel a bit creaky and plastic. So far so good though… but it seems to happen too much.
Seems more and more companies are taking the "it's disposable" approach to cust service. It's pretty much all mainstream audio companies. We know some exceptions and really those should be getting our money.
Looks like the slider mechanism might have come uncoupled from the main band frame? Wonder whether it's people with less small noggins that are more often affected by this.
A couple metal rods even from coat hangers and some epoxy should do the trick. Might not even look that bad. Bend the rods a bit to match the curve in the headband before cutting them otherwise you’ll have no leverage. There’s really no excuse for a headband to break like that. It should be a solid metal band inside. Look at what Tyll does to HDxx headbands and they never break.
I was wondering if it might have been a case of the yokes extending too far out of the rails or whatever, but yeah either way seems like the material they used there was just weak. You'd expect better of an expensive product, sigh.
Thank you @zerodeefex for warning me off their Spirit line, was genuinely tempted back then. Still, you'd think that sensible repairs would mean they cost LESS than buying a new can altogether. Jeebus, more than other things that's what's disgusting.
