You are not alone. But I have yet to come across a better all-arounder for le$$.

I f'ing despise it. I have tried and bailed so many times I'm happy to be on the fringes of civilization and not be 'Roon Ready'.

Ive tried it so many times at other people's houses and its like I have to fight with the UI to actually listen to any music, I can't stand it.

But I also use mpd and gladly use ncmpcpp as my mpd client cause while it might be nerdy and a terminal client, it gets out of my way and does the thing its supposed to, easily allow me to browse my music and play songs

I also don't stream music, I could see if you have a large library and you stream that the integration of Roon would be very nice, but I'm still not sure I could deal with it

I have my issues with the Roon UI, but vastly prefer it to mpd and ncmpcpp (or any other terminal client I tried). I think it's about using what works for you.

haha I wouldn't necessarily advocate using ncmpcpp, it requires you to learn a bunch of hotkeys to use it, but once you do, I love it, and have been using it for years now.

Wait, you use what essentially is a terminal client as a music player? :) Yep, Roon is not for you...it's defiantly not the 10 sided dice of the music player world ;)

Oh wait, yes I have. I used to have a Squeezebox. That wonderful project that was so far ahead of its time that Logitech killed it :(
