At least for me, this is not “live now”, still seeing the old start page. If this is true and I’ll see it later …
Well, up to now I thought I’d maybe go back to Spotify if Spotify HiFi ever goes live, saving quite some money by leaving Roon and Qobuz, as we have a family subscription, anyway. But this is definitely a deal breaker.

Barf squared. The user interface is already on the edge of unusable. I waste minutes each time I want to search for an old favourite album due to the 'let's feed you random crap instead' interface.
In the era of wireless head-earphones we are unlikely to see lossless Spotify, unfortunately.

Oh god, another app wants to be tictok? That turned instagram into [worse] crap, and they won't listen. Now spotify. Bugger.

And I just renewed my subscription last night! Never mind, I don't use it much, and only for specific listening. And the India rate is pretty low.

It makes it more valuable for ads, seems like a good move. I don't use spotify mobile but I imagine this will make tons of money.

Spotify is in touch with engagement and data collection metrics, which are the metrics that boost their valuation.

    Subscription means no ads anyway.

I even subscribed to youtube, this month, since Google finally killed the superior-in-every-way, ad-blocking you-tube Vanced.

I really cannot stand ads. If I have to pay, I'd rather pay.

Apple going lossless killed Spotify ever going lossless. They were going to charge more for lossless and Apple undercut them. They’re pivoting away from purely music streaming anyway so no incentive to improve music playback.

Yeah, this type of thing seems to be really prevalent, especially with publicly traded companies. They're completely over in their heads.

LOL I read “publicly traded companies” as “publicly hated companies”.

The sad thing is: I guess this will actually be a success. Who cares about us cranky audiophiles? My kids will like it. If only because we don’t restrict time on Spotify as opposed to YouTube. Isn’t it great that you can watch videos there now, too? :( But that’s not new, either: “Video podcasts.”
    Sigh.
