Yeah, the passive aggressive “members name starts with a T,” put all of the “T” people in a shaded light… clearly a mystery for Scooby-Doo until said person passively aggressively attacked back, lol
This is a 'forum' right? where freedom to comment, communicate, canvas opinion, share experiences, discuss or opinionate on any topic of their choosing exists? Or am I missing something?
Are members obliged to read all posts or do they have the choice to simply ignore or not read certain posts/threads if they appear uninteresting?
shit, i knew right off the bat it was that little twerp Tekker. Dude asked me to build him a cable, which I did, then I asked him to send me PP and a shipping address, and he flaked, but kept posting to the forum. Asked like 8 million questions about dumb shit. f**k right off, dude.
@Chris Cables the friendly advice was because you’re not just on an audio forum as a user, you’re presenting your brand to your target audience. Feel free to ignore it but I can say I’ve gotten enough texts from members who are put off that I’d at least think about it.
@Chris Cables I definitely understand the desire to share stories, especially frustrating ones, and I DID find this to be a fairly amusing read, but zerodeefex has a good point about how it could be something to deter customers from making earnest enquiries.
@zerodeefex thanks for the friendly advice but I am here as a forum user foremost, where I'd like to consider I have the absolute freedom to discuss topics or canvas opinion on any subject of my choosing without any objection or prejudice from others.
Hanging out on someone elses forum is not a right, it's a privilege. Their house their rules. This place is pretty easy going nowadays and everyone has their voice of course but know your audience.
In the olden days you probably wouldn't have lasted as long as you have. No offense.
Agreed. But again- I'm here as a forum user.
Please feel free to correct me but I didn't see anything in the forum rules about not being allowed to canvas opinion. As for 'knowing your audience' what does that even mean in the context of how to determine if a post is acceptable here or not?? Please advise these boundary conditions.
I'm here on this forum as a user, with the absolute freedom to express prejudice or objection to others.
@Chris Cables, I say yes to your freedom, but throw in a reminder that it works both ways.
Where are the boundaries? Well, they do exist, particularly where personal attacks against others, on and off this forum are concerned. But even there there is no hard rule. Some such attacks are a public service!
This is indeed a forum. it is a place of human interaction. And the responses one gets are the responses one gets.
I think it is fine if you want to tell us that being a member of the hifi trade is not all roses. *Personally* I would anonymise stories. Unless it is actually necessary, as in some buy/sell or scam situations.
Sure. But please be clear that when I posted that topic I gave a warning and disclaimer at the beginning about exactly what kind of post it is and you'll notice that I did not reply before it was locked -I was out with friends, doing stuff.
It only became a sh!tstorm when Tekker decided to play the race card against me (wtf!). @elwappo99 's comment was EXACTLY the kind of empathetic response I was canvassing
I don't know if you're intentionally being obtuse or if you're just stupid. You are a user but you also happen to be representing a brand and you're presenting your company in an extremely poor light in front of your target audience.
Again, you can say "I'm just a user" all you want, but, at the end of the day, you post stupid memes in poor taste and air your dirty laundry publicly on a forum that Google crawls. Anyone who is looking up your business is free to notice the way you conduct yourself here and, in your shoes, I'd probably be a little more cautious.
To be fair, I’d assume he was a bigot based off his meme posting and old mediocre white dude energy with the “anti-woke” commentary. Strong: “Graa, it’s hard to be a cis white man in today’s world!” vibes
My brain automatically blocks out a lot of the memes I come across unless I make an effort to look them over so I'm just gonna trust you guys on this cuz I don't need more weirdness in my day. Adjusting my sentiments accordingly.
