    Sadly, no.
Sometimes, I wish I were in the US.
I think there's not a single Wyrd in my country and buying one would take a month (and 200usd).

I would take advantage of the more powerful Laptop anyway, so getting an Asus N or G series is not a problem from that perspective.
Sadly I can not try a Wyrd, to share my impressions.

Yes, everything seems perfectly fine on the Lenovo, mostly using foobar2k with wasapi, no EQ, no active DSP, you know...
I have a second Lenovo G50, I'm yet to try that one.

    Finished!

While still dealing with new toy syndrome, I am 99% confident that not only is the Bifrost 4490 a real step up from the GOV2 Infinity as a straight DAC, but that I am at long last done with headphone nervosa until I jump up several tax brackets. Over the coming weeks, I will dig a little deeper into comparisons, but damn if I am not pleased right now.

does not surprise me, I think the GOV2 Infinity is best used as balanced dac amp combo. Using the dac alone ,I was not too impressed, but it is decent when compared to lots of other $200-$300 dacs out there.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but man am I glad I took a shot on the Bifrost 4490. It definitely outclasses the GOV2 (and it matches my Valhalla 2!). That said, the GOV2 is still a remarkable device and worth every penny for a portable or mid-entry level combo solution.

    Hey, it's possible!

I'm completely content with the 4490/Ember setup. Stick to it, @fraggler !

We can start a support group. If either of us starts eyeing some expensive toys the other can talk them out of it.

I dunno about you guys, but I partially satisfy my nervosa by talking other people into buying toys I can't afford so I can live vicariously through them.

@fraggler Can you compare the 4490 to the Modi 2?

Compared to the Modi 2U it is less congested with a little more bass.

The extra space makes it a little more realistic sounding and immersive.

A huge upgrade, in my opinion, though @Psalmanazar seems to disagree based on his posts on page 7.

I've seen several different opinions in this thread and elsewhere regarding Modi 2U vs 4490 & 4490 vs MB... I imagine synergy throughout the rest of the chain might play a role in that, or personal preference... /shrug

I'd welcome any additional comparisons. Over the last few weeks I've gone from eyeing a Lyr/Val 2 + Modi to eyeing a T3 + 4490... Basically doubling my budget, I guess it beats having actually gone thru that upgrade cycle. :p

    That is for sure.

Interestingly, unlike the Gungnir DS -> Gungnir Multibit, where I haven't read of anyone really preferring the DS to MB, there seem to be qualities of the 4490 that some prefer to the MB so not so clear cut case of the MB outright being better (as would be expected based on pricing).

No advice for amp, but maybe just shoot for the 4490 and await whatever Schiity MB board upgrade is available in 1-2 years if you eventually get the itch to step up. I'd guess the amp would have bigger impact in tailoring the sound to your preference anyway.

I have heard both, there is a reason they make the 4490 :D But I cannot compare it directly, other than I owned a modi 2 uber and could not wait to sell it. I did briefly hear the 4490 at a meet and with my cans and did not find any inherent major flaws via a Valhalla.

The Modi 2 uber in my book is strictly an entry level dac. Lots better than many, but you know how it is once you get a taste, ..where's the beer emoticon...oh, there it is :piratemug:

Yeah, that's the thing. Modi is ok for starters. I just wish the Bifrost 4490 could fit in the smaller form factor. I'm thinking about it for my 2ndary Dac. Or DAC on the road. Like have DAC will travel. or listen... Something

Bifrost 4490 isn't an upgrade from Modi 2U and the Bifrost Multibit lacks bass impact. The real upgrade is the Yggdrasil.

I really like the way your setup looks. Can you please provide me with the link for the clear stand/feet on your Valhalla 2?

    Thank you in advance!

I had them on my speakers for 3-4 years before transferring them to the Schiit stack and can't remember exactly where I got them. Most likely from the Walmart that was near me. Possibly Home Depot. They are just cheap furniture feet about an inch in diameter. Work well, though.

Just got my Bifrost 4490 today. Tonight I'll be listening with my Valhalla 2, and comparing to my Modi 2U. A Bifrost Multibit should be arriving later this week for further obsessive A/B comparisons before I sell off whatever I like least. Basically there's Schiit all over my desk.
