That's really an impressive band, thanks! Just want to add that "Burst" is actually their 2017 debut album and their 2019 album is called "Nest". Both are definitely worth checking out imo:

Ah, yes, this is what I meant to put, thanks for the catch. I'll edit the old post, but glad you enjoy the find. Nest is really something.

    1. Idle Hands - Mana (https://idlehandspdx.bandcamp.com/album/mana)
    • Goth rock debut albums are usually not very good. Let's be honest, goth rock albums in general are usually not very good. This one is very good.
    2. Black Sites - Exile (https://blacksites.bandcamp.com/album/exile)
    • A well done classic(ish) heavy metal sounding album in 2019? Sign me up. It's possible I played this more than the first album.
    3. Xoth - Interdimensional Invocations (https://xoth.bandcamp.com/album/interdimensional-invocations)
    • Idk wtf this is exactly. I don't think it knows what it is exactly. Throw some thrash metal, death metal, black metal, and power metal into a wood chipper and this is probably what comes out the other end.
    4. Cult of Luna - A Dawn to Fear (https://cultofluna.bandcamp.com/album/a-dawn-to-fear)
    • A slow and droning post metal album from the guys who have done it best for the last decade.
    5. Sermon - Birth of the Marvellous (https://sermonsound.bandcamp.com/releases)
    • Is there another very good goth rock debut album? Not likely. There's plenty of prog in this one so let's call it a prog album instead.
    6. Soen - Lotus (https://soen.bandcamp.com/album/lotus)
    • The second prog album in a row. @SoupRKnowva put it in his earlier post in this thread already, what he said.
    7. Devin Townsend - Empath (https://www.hevydevy.com/discography/empath-march-2019/)
    • Hevy Devy is like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. This is a mostly upbeat Dr. Jekyll album and I prefer those.
    8. Death Angel - Humanicide (https://www.deathangel.us/music)
    • One of the last early thrash bands (along with Overkill) still releasing top tier thrash metal.
    9. Opeth - In Cauda Venenum (http://www.opeth.com/releases#albums)
    • I like Opeth better now that they unashamedly play dad rock instead of when they played dad rock and tried to hide it behind a little bit of metal.
    10. The Drowning - The Radiant Dark (https://drowningwales.bandcamp.com/album/the-radiant-dark-death-doom-metal)
    • Sometimes you're feeling too chipper and need to be crushed. Other times you're already crushed and wonder if anyone could be more crushed. This album will help both times.
Rare Melodeath That Doesn't Suck Honorable Mentions
Eternal Storm - Come the Tide (https://eternalstorm.bandcamp.com/album/come-the-tide-death-metal)
In Mourning - Garden of Storms (https://agoniarecords.bandcamp.com/album/garden-of-storms)

Worst Fvkking Name Doom Metal Honorable Mention
Fvneral Fvkk - Carnal Confessions (https://fvneralfvkk.bandcamp.com/album/carnal-confessions)

David Byrne — American Utopia On Broadway [Original Cast Recording]: O my god, I saw this show in Calgary in 2018. The concert ticket came with a CD. The musicians were essentially a superbly choreographed marching band with no fixed drums of keyboard. The British NME said it “may just be the best live show of all time.” The show contains songs of Byrne’s current album “American Utopia” mixed with old Talking Heads favourites that have received a new paint: I Zimbra, Burning Down The House, Slippery People, Born Under Punches, Road To Nowhere, and The Great Curve. A feast! Go and see it on Broadway if you can.

its decent but yeah. far from the best album. its funny how when we discover a new artist how we can lack objectivity.
