IC: Chicagoland Meetup 2023

I am not sure how successful meetups have been at the various audio shows recently since I have not been able to attend, but after chatting with @MellowVelo , thought we'd check for interest in a standalone Chicagoland meet. I am not sure if I have the bandwidth to plan something like the bigger SoCal and Texas meets, but maybe if enough people show interest in this thread, we can collectively pull something off.

Thinking early 2023 since we are in the busy holiday season, but no details beyond that.

Please ping anyone might be interested, I know I haven't included anywhere close to all that are in Chicago/Milwaukee area.

I'm in the NW suburbs but I regularly go to the city for work. No need to plan around me, but evenings are better for me, even on the weekends. Best

Sure, if you guys will have me. Bit of an introvert myself, tbh, but I enjoyed the singular Chicago meet I showed up at... was it 2006? 2007? Was fun hearing some really nice gear that helped form my future amp purchases for quite a while after that.

At that meet the Head-Amp Dynalo just blew my socks off back then. I really sat down with it connected to my CD player and my headphones and just kinda froze in puzzled amazement at the fluidity of it all. @recstar24 was that your Dynalo or am I mistaken? (Sorry, it might have been Skylab's, I don't remember perfectly) The meet was in Schaumburg, there was a Moth Audio amp and some vintage Joe Grado headphones. We all built an "Uber Rig" with some of the best equipment there. ALO even made an appearance with some of his recabled K701's, and my Audio Technica ATH-2's got voted best budget gear.

It’s a possibility that might have been a meet I hosted lol (I would have lived in an apartment in Schaumburg at that time and I recall hosting a meet at my complex’s conference room/lobby area, nice meet!). I would have been one of a few that was rocking moth amps and joe grado cans too! Nice trip down memory lane and here’s hoping I’ll see you again soon.

 

Yup, that's the one. I thought you hosted, haha, wasn't sure on the origin of the legendary Dynalo though. xD Yeah, was a good meet. Hope to see you again too and maybe finally meet @dBel84 seeing as I've never met a fellow vintage Ortho head before, would be neat to get his impressions on some of my builds! I'm a fan of his T10 mod, I bought it off someone on Head-Fi years ago, probably the best tuned supra-aural I've got.

 

Anybody attending the meet gonna have an HE-6se??? @Philimon was kind enough to offer his on loan for the meet, I can bring it along if there isn't another already there.

 

@khbaur330162 may loan forward to anyone interested then whomever’s last will ship back to me when finished. Will include a few different pads to try.:
- Dekoni hybrid for HFM
- Dekoni hybrid for Fostex
- stock pads

 

Depending on the day and weather situation I might be interested. Or even a Madison / Milwaukee area meet.
