Yggys are burned in at the factory for a couple of days minimum, if you worry about that sort of thing.

Grats on the Yggdrasil. It's a very good dac. May it bring you many evenings of musical bliss. Here's a protip but Yggdrasil is truly excellent for movies. You'll notice things you've never heard before. Try it out in your HT system if you can.

Thanks I was not aware of that, good to know. I have read here on SBAF that once a Yggdrasil is turned off it takes at least a few days for the unit to warm up again and sound its best. Now that I know just how good it sounds on some files I am very familiar with I am interested to see if I hear improvement in a week. I will leave the Yggdrasil on permanently of course and it is connected to a good UPS in case of power failure.

I would like to see audiophiles save money and avoid the buying mistakes I have made the past year. To that end I will publish a critical review comparing the Yggdrasil A2 to the Brooklyn DAC+ on my own website. In my opinion there is absolutely no reason to buy a Brooklyn DAC+ when you can get a Yggdrasil A2 for an extra $204. I have a year's experience listening to MQA files on the Brooklyn DAC+ and the same files sound better on the Yggdrasil A2!

Hey @Torq, over a year ago, you mentioned in the hugo 2 thread that there wasn't a Chord DAC you would buy over the Yggdrasil/Gungnir Multibit, but then later in your initial impressions, you mentioned how you thought that the hugo 2 sounded excllent with good IEMs/headphones.

Given it's been 9 months since your first initial impressions, have your thoughts/impressions on the hugo 2 changed at all, and how would you say it compares to the Yggdrasil/Gungnir MB?

    ---

P.S. Sorry if you've already posted detailed impressions already, I searched the hugo thread and this thread for over thirty minutes but couldn't find anything... but I might also just have not searched hard enough

Perhaps slightly off topic, but relevant nonetheless, as they do talk of future digital devices. For Jason and Mike's latest thinking on upcoming products including Schiit Amps, turntable the Manhattan / Gadget as well as Mikes 10 year plan/wish list, check this out this interview with Johnny Darko...

Torq kept Dave at home, and moved Yggdrasil to the office, if that tells you anything. Hugo IIRC is OK for portable use.

Most interesting for me is that they're going to "try again" in a new USB interface.

Hey guys, I wanted to post the video link in my post 1047 above on the Yggdrasil sound impressions thread, but trying to be a good SBAF as well as avoid the wrath of the flame. Is it ok to duplicate my post there, or what is appropriate protocol?

Do you mean like this one?

    https://www.superbestaudiofriends.o...a2-sound-impressions.5665/page-30#post-231909

I posted this in the Yggdrasil impressions thread because it was in specific response to someone’s point about their planned USB implementation. I could have probably pointed to another post that had the video (maybe should have), but figured that would be easier for them. But I wouldn’t just plaster the video into other Schiit threads ‘just because’.

Edit: ^ what he said :D

“Appropriate protocol” is to put effort into your posts and provide something meaningful to the discussion. I’m only saying this to help you out, but that “wrath of the flame” quip you facetiously say is something well deserved. I’m just trying to help, take it from me who learned the hard way. Just lurk moar.

Is this a contender in the sub $2500 to take notice? I have heard some users quote unquote say "It did actually play music like "a 'state of the art' reference digital to analog converter." It did indeed sound like "an all-out assault" on what is possible in DACs today, the reviews are praising this little dac as a true giant killer" blah blah...

monacelli and Vtory got a problem with my post? I guess you think the ifi Audio Pro IDSD is very good. I'm simply being skeptical on the product but would like some input on the site on what people think of it before making the conclusion its not worth considering.

The way how you presented the question revealed that you are not qualified for discussion regarding higher dacs. Even worse, I am suspecting that you DID NOT READ already-existing good discussions in this and related threads.

Let me say this again, keep calm and read (and try) more.

TL;DR - Your questions are lazy, stupid, naive, and unnecessary (many already know the answer).

Let me help you a little bit. The are objecting to the useless question you posted. First of all, there are some discussions of that DAC on the site, that you could have found with the helpful search function. If those discussions are not enough to answer your question, then obviously no one on SBAF has studied the matter closely enough and felt like posting a review or measurements, so asking is useless. In general, if a serious SBAFer has a well-founded opinion on a piece of gear, they'll post it, and search will find it.
