I feel bad for anyone that traded their A1 boards for A2 and didn't get to keep both. I love swapping them and seem to do so every 6 months. If I could only keep one version of boards though, it might be the A1. The A1 is the pool and A2 is the jacuzzi.

That's fascinating! How did you happen to discover that search?
I searched around Qobuz (USA) and found the same Bob Marley radio broadcast on this album:

That record label (Cult Legends) has other interesting stuff on Qobuz: https://play.qobuz.com/label/204622
(keep scrolling down to see more albums — it loads slowly)

Just my personal opinion, but I'm not finding anything thiicc-boi sounding running BF2 (OG) + MJ3 (no FB, SE, high gain) + HD800S. It gets a tad warmer, but not thick, running it PP. And with feedback engaged in SE, it seems to have a touch more subbass extension/definition. PP plus feedback is getting close to being too chesty for my preferences with HD800S. But it's nice to have the ability to knob-twiddle to suit different recordings and moods.

I have read differing opinions, what’s the consensus on the MJ3 driving the HE6SE V2? Anyone feeding the MJ3 with the 2/64?

I think MJ3 drives HE6se (non v2) quite well, and my version is less efficient then the v2, and I think the actual ohms are 64 on mine instead of the 50 that hifiman has listed on the website.

Fully balanced from Yggdrasil A2, usb, Single Ended, low gain, no feedback.

quite loud and controlled at 2-2:30 on the dial, usual listening spot is abot 12:30-1

You heard it here first: there will be another run of Mjolnir 3, and it will have 230V compatibility.

    We'll see about silver.

Expect to be out of stock for a while between runs. Guessing we'll be out in 2-3 weeks, next run 8-10 weeks out.

Assume you mean the next run will be a mix of 115 and 230? Just want to make sure 115 won’t be going away forever in 2-3 weeks.

Anyone know if the 1/4 and 4-pin XLR headphone outputs are both equal quality on MJ3? MJ2 the 1/4 was worse.

@purr1n said they felt there was a difference with the balanced being better (for output), so maybe they'll chime in too. I got my balanced cable in today and as of now in my experience, I am not hearing it. At this point I'm not convinced I hear a difference, but having over 24 hours listening time now on the 1/4 inch out I don't feel balanced out sounds better, at least not while feeding in an unbalanced signal.

It may be a DAC thing though since my DAC is unbalanced out only (Chord). When I switch to my balanced DAC and run XLR in to XLR out It sounds great too but that's using a different DAC so apples to oranges. My take away is, if you have balanced output from your DAC, run it. But I wouldn't loose any sleep over running unbalanced in to either 1/4 or XLR out. To my ear with my DAC the quality hasn't changed.

Edit: I will say, separation is improved and micro and macro are improved as well. I'm scrutinizing Home Cookin' by Lambert, Hendricks and Ross. Will run XLR for a few days and then switch back to 1/4".

^ That was the quicky invoice that didn't have the taxes and shipping.

Now let's ask Amir how much he pays for anything Topping, SMSL, etc. I bet cherry picked units are drop shipped to his front door right before launch.

More minor updates: I think this thing likes to stay warm. First day or three I was switching it off at the end of the day, but leaving it fired up for 5 days straight now and it's calmer, and slightly richer in the upper mids which lends to an even deeper sense of space/layering, and despite the rolled off sub bass inherent in HD600, it drives them in a "bookshelf speaker that plays like it has sub bass" kind of way. it's like going from 65% cocoa to 85% or 90% cocoa in the same fancy-ass bar of chocolate.

More thoughts on DACs (answers to some specific reader questions and more):
    • Yggdrasil OG/A2. Brought in and powered up for a few hours. Not fully warmed up, but these are old fully baked cards should not need as long, and I know where this is going. The OG/A2 works dandy with the Mjolnir 3. You should already be familiar with the OG/A2's sound and I'm not hearing anything out of place. You already know it's not going to sound like the DAVE or MIL-B (which splits the difference between DAVE and OG/A2). More on differences in the MIL-B thread. But yeah, it works, the lower mid bloom on the OG/A2 doesn't get in the way, nor does its zippier transients in the highs.
    • Bifrost 2OG. Same deal. This will work, but I'd probably steer toward toward neutral or brighter headphones such the HD600, HD800, Elex, etc.
    • Bifrost 2/64. Based on my experience of this DAC with the Folkvangr and considering some similarities to it with Mjolnir 3 (no, the Mjolnir 3 isn't anywhere as phat or fuzzy), this should work. The edge and transients on the high-end aren't any worse than on the Yggdrasil OG/A2. Be sure to give the DAC some time to warm up and leave it on. Mjolnir isn't bright or steely in the high-end (for comparison, some of the EC amps are more zippy) so that helps. The 2/64 is resolving of microdetail, and this is something the Mjolnir 3 can take advantage of.
    • Modi Multibit 2 (NOS mode on) This works really well. If you want to be cheap / build high value set up / have a good stopgap. Also the MMB2 is far more resolving than it should be. Not as slamming as the bigboi DACs.
The only DACs that didn't quite work with the Mjolnir 3:
    • Gungnir A2: This so worked well for so many things. But its mid forwardness and high-energy (combined with the Mjolnir's 3 high-energy) also made a good number or marginally bright / thin recordings difficult to listen to. The Wailers At the Plant and Hall and Oates recordings were fine. Temple of the Dog, two Basia CDs, Peter Gabriel So - these were not fine - my ears hurt (and I'm used to real drums and cymbals in my house - which are f'ing loud)
    • Yggdrasil LIM: Just a beautiful sounding DAC with the x2 EC amps I have, but just bad synergy with Mjolnir 3. Too dark with the Mjolnir 3. That it's resolving than today's latest bunch including the Bifrost 2/64 and maybe even the MMB, combined with the dark slope makes it sound ugh with the Mjolnir 3. I think if Mjolnir 3 was more airy or had more mid treble emphasis, the LIM would work, but it's not.
    Other info:

    Headphones used: Caldera, JAR600, RS2X w/ F cush, HE5XX
Shanling ET-3 as CD transport using AES output (or AES to SPDIF with SESCOM transformer)

out of curiosity, how much does it draw from the wall? Curious how much it would cost to leave it on 24/7...
