The main problem with that room is you have to watch out for the death sphere sentinels from Phantasm flying through the air, which distracts you from the speakers. The benefit of it, though, is it can double as a funeral parlor if the overpriced speaker business slows down more.

    Fertin Acoustics speaker drivers.
These have no surround, instead, an array of carbon rods center the cone, which floats in air. This results in the cone reacting stupidly fast to signals. Fertin is "famous" for field coil magnets, but this driver topology can also be used with permanent magnets. Downside: uneven frequency response, driver needs EQ to be linear.
A very similar design is the Illumnia driver, which is also a surroundless floating cone, and they even go away without a spider. "Downside" is that only field coil is possible, because the driver needs to float in a magnetic field.

I post the Fertin drivers because, apart from being true audio porn, for a headphone, this would be next level tech. 70-75mm big driver, with large armco or permendur magnet and the same type of build (but without wizzer). EQ would be the earpads :)

Apart from ORFAS speaker with those drivers, I think that a headphone with that tech would be awesome, the driver topology is very well suited for it, IMO.

Is that a dead cow on the floor? Would have thought the acoustics of that place would be those of an empty warehouse.

    Speakers look nice, though :D

Something something controlled directivity? It's an all horns system, so... maybe there's something clever going on? And not that I'd bet on it, but there could be treatments on the walls or up in the rafters.

It’s pulled from an old movie theater.

“The Ubangi was one of the largest theater horn systems ever made, and certainly one of the best engineered and sounding. RCA invented the radial horn used in both the bass and high frequency sections.”

OMA Founder Jonathan Weiss, they have a short story about what they do, link includes more shots of their horn designs influenced by the OGs. Would love some big ol horns some day. Some interesting designs, I lean towards their monitors if I was to pick something up.

Ah, I see, OMA's space. Yeah, they make really interesting looking stuff. That RCA theater system probably sounds pretty live in that big space, but I guess (or I'm told) that the directionality of horns would help that.

I'd love to visit the OMA space whichever way.

Gotta admit, when I was scrolling through and my brain hadn't processed this picture yet, I thought to myself "why did someone post a drum kit on here?"

When I saw that I thought it was a psilocybin inspired nude DQ-10 knockoff made from garage parts bin. I’d still love to hear it.

If open baffle is good, no baffle must be even better! :D Would love to hear what it sounds like.

These are my new favorite looking speakers. Sexy AF to my eyes.

    Living Audio CE-2a III (1975).

3 way 94dB sensitive with a 12" woofer and two compression horns.

    Just look at those!.
