Currently reading Stephenson's latest, which is a blast. As are most of his books. Glad he "returned" to SF.

I've given up on Gibson's latest though:

AFAIK, he's just trying to hard to sound like a hipster, which I find extremely annoying.

Currently reading "The Fall", the second book from Guillermo del Toro vampire trilogy. FX turned the books into a TV series. Haven't watched it and will not until I finish the books.

Have a couple others waiting for me. Backlog... ;)

Personally I think Neal out Gibson'ed Gibson with Snowcrash. That said I really enjoyed Pattern Recognition.

RE: Seveneves - Very good tome. It gets boring here and there like all of his stuff, but it has a more satisfying ride to the end than a lot of his books. My love of Stephenson's storiesis renewed after Anathem and Seveneves; he had some stinkers between Snow Crash and recent offerings.

Just finished "Codex Born" by Jim C. Hines. He writes some relatively obscure but nice fantasy palate cleansers. I'll likely read the third of that trilogy next.

I liked his "Goblin" series a bit better than this Libriomancer series, but it's still fun to read.

On deck after that is "The Dungeoneers" by Jeffery Russell, in part because I can just get it for free from the Kindle Lending Library.

Then after the easy books, I'll probably finish up the Malazan cycle (I think I have 3 to go).

System of the world trilogy is my favorite Stephenson, without a doubt, and I can admit it's HEAVY on exposition and wordy.

I read all the Erikson Malazan books. A lot of interesting moments, some lulls, ultimately just a bit disappointing, but no regrets.

I think that the Brave New World by Aldous Huxley written in 1932 is quite relevant to the 21 century and the future.

I read Rendezvous with Rama a while ago after the playing the computer game. I have been meaning to start Rama II but keep getting sidetracked.

Since I now have a daughter I have used it as an excuse to read the Harry Potter series. I have been reading a chapter a day to her right before bed. Currently I am on Volume 4: The Goblet of Fire.

For non-fiction I am reading this:

Fostex speaker builds by Tetsuo Nagaoka. I hope the build a few and add his other books to my library.

I most recently polished off the first book in Jim Butcher's new series (The Aeronauts Windlass), which was good but not quite Harry Dresden good for me. I also made short work of the first couple of books in Matthew Stover's scifi/fantasy hybrid Caine series. The first book, Heroes Die is really good stuff if you tend to like this genre.

I am presently nearing the end of Walter Mosley's Futureland, with Steven King's Dark Tower series on deck. Horror isn't really my thing, so I have been slow about picking up King's work, but I found 11-22-63 to be a wonderful read, and I now have high hopes for The Gunslinger and the rest of his epic series.

The Gunslinger definitely has some rough edges. Starts up real slow. I haven't finished it yet..

"Practical Electronics for Inventors." Truly an incredible book. It's like The Art of Electronics but more approachable.

I couldn't get into it at first (difficult to follow), but after reading the Manga guide to Electricity it became much clearer.

Recently finished Ready Player One, which was a fun, short read. Interested to see what the movie does with it. Next up is my LEED certification study guides...

not all that far into it as of yet (he's still married to Big Nancy) but enjoying this:

it actually seems to be fairly balanced, unlike either kitty Kelly or Will Freidwald.

Worked my way up to Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix, volume 5. The last book blew my mind! I can see why the series is so popular with adults as well as children.

That was an excellent fun ride! Loved the book and hopefully the movie does it justice... (I'd actually would have loved seeing it in sort of a mini-series or something...). Wonder how will they tackle all the copyright stuff.

I'm going to read the third book from Guillermo del Toro's "The Strain" trilogy. Is not bad at all. Haven't watched the series in FX but I've read that it's alright...

I finally got my wife to read a Jim Butcher book (The Aeronauts Windlass). She does read other fantasy authors such as Pat Rothfuss, but I couldn't get her into the Dresden Files or Codex Alera. She loved the book more than I did, but I'm excited about having a new series.

I'm currently reading Shadows of Self by Sanderson. I don't love this series as much as the Stormlight Archive, but this book is getting me excited about the next one coming out later this month. I like the new characters and the humor in the book. Not quite Harry Dresden, but pretty good. This book ties in the original trilogy much more than the last one did.
