We can handle it. I watch AVGN videos for fun. I thought Mike, the cuddly rabbit with teeth was tame.

I have dealt with amateur theologians and religious guru's who are worse than you. Keep it factual and actually listen to music. After that look at the retail price of the KSC75 and realise what you have bought.

 

Man, if I could determine the sonic qualities of a piece of gear just by looking at it, it would save me a ton of time! I wouldn't have to read reviews, or go to meets, or go to stores to audition, or buy something and then return it. I could just look at it and say, "Nah, it looks cheap. Can't be good" or "Look at that polished chrome! It must sound amazing!"

 

The suggestion to get the KSC75 was for your benefit, not ours. Nobody here needs your report on the headphone. We know it's a capable little headphone.

As to your earlier comments on hearing gear at meets: technical analysis (in the proper sense, with measurements and subjective impressions compared) is simply unnecessary for an individual to evaluate gear. I don't need to know how good the HD 800 is in its square wave response, CSDs, driver matching, etc. to know whether I like it. Discussing a headphone with others, sure, that's where some technical analysis could come in. But if one was just auditioning gear for oneself, auditioning itself will suffice.

He is talking about hydrogenaudio. I'm not sure that they (we, even: I admit to membership and even occasional participation) would be too troubled by that label. Thing is, I don't go to that forum to tell them all how certain audio equipment makes different toes tingle, and hey, that is an established fact that everybody knows. Just as I don't come here to expect every impression to be backed up by double-blind testing, or that, unlike yet another place on the net, any mention of ABX is restricted to a ghetto where the technical nutters can do no harm.

 

I already know how objective hydrogenaudio can get. I'm just pointing out how dumb it is to use that word to refer to them when one himself pursues 130db SNR. Furthermore, he asks about tube amps right after that and states that he's going to buy a Studio someday, perhaps due to realizing most SBAF members' preference for tube amps (you know, the ones that measure so terribly?). These are typical signs of the audio noob with too much money to spend. I think all the people in this forum are trying to make him stop with all the money and tech PR talk and just listen to well established headphones that aren't exotic.

Sorry for not responding, I've been essentially banned from the forum. I've been trying to respond over the last several days unsuccessfully, so this message, if it does get through, is to let everyone know I will be posting about my high resolution system over at What's Best Forum and/or Steve Hoffman forum.

Okay, checking back in to my thread to see if I'm still banned...

I've upgraded to a Gustad X20 (modded, non-USB version Native) feeding a Ragnarok powering an HE-6. Fully balanced front to end. I've also took the plunge on HQ Player -- really expensive as software goes, but just as the rave reviews has indicated, 16/44 audio is greatly improved. I use a Gustard USB bridge to feed the IIS connection. Native DSD tracks through this setup has produced the most real sound I've ever heard.

@GUTB , I wasn't around for this thread, but reading this and your posts elsewhere, I think you are going to have to do better than this for your return to SBAF.
